10x Cashback: Your Wealth Is Mine

Chapter 48 That's A Very Punchable Face

48  That's A Very Punchable Face

"You think I didn't know?" I asked, laughing. "If the whole world hears of this, you can still shrug it off but your father? You're dead meat."

I leaned back in my chair and continued what was quickly becoming a satisfying explanation.

"Your father is the kind of man with a strict set of values and breaking those values has consequences that he isn't willing to compromise on."

"You've benefited from those values with your sister being excluded from inheritance but if i take this to your father… you'll be the one on the chopping block this time."

"Your father detest infidelity but what he hates even more, is betrayal from family members. We both know why he's only worth fifteen billion when he could be worth more." I paused.

"His brother stole a significant part of his own inheritance." I paused, savoring the way he'd gone rigid. "When he hears of what you did, he'll give the worst punishment possible."

I leaned forward and delivered the final blow. "Your inheritance would be gone." I gave him a wicked smile, showing teeth. "Forever."

His hands gripped the armrest of his chair so hard, I could hear the creaks from the strain of the force from where I sat.

"So, here's my offer." I leaned back. The threat was delivered. It's time to get what I want.

"You'll give me a hundred million for twenty percent. Take it or leave it."

I smiled, watching him. His eyes darted around the room as if he was searching for an escape.

This time, my blackmail was obvious. But he can't take it to the cops. Taking it would expose it to the public. And news would get back to his father. He would then have to kiss his inheritance goodbye. All he'd be left with will definitely be less than his current one billion dollars net worth.

I could have asked for more money but that would be counterproductive. I won't take much more than he could give but in the process, I'd raise my company's valuation to the five hundred million I wanted.

"I…" Oliver spoke then trailed off.

"Tick tock, Oliver. Time's a wasting." I said.

"I… I'll take it. Hundred million for twenty percent."

"Perfect." I grinned. "You've made the right choice, Oliver. You won't regret it."

He said nothing, staring at me.

"Oh, and before I forget, you should get started on some PR from your end as soon as possible." "Nothing huge. Just something to let the right people know that Sunset Inn has your support. Okay?" n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"O- okay." He nodded.

"Good." I extended my hand for a handshake. "It was a pleasure negotiating with you."

He reluctantly stood, shaking my hand. The pleasure was definitely one sided.

"I'll be seeing you around." I gave him a final grin and left.

I stepped out of his office feeling on top of the world. The sun was shining and I'd gotten both the money I wanted and the valuation I needed. All that was left was to rope Quinn into this.

The hardest part was over. All that was left was a careful use of social engineering. When the story of Abstract Capital's investment breaks, Quinn will be ripe for the taking.

I began whistling as I stepped into the elevator, my music overriding the elevator's soulless music.

I walked out into the lobby with a big smile on my face. It was a matter of time before I became a few millions shy of a billion.

I kept up my whistling as I stepped out of the building. Where did I even park my car? I walked forward and stumbled as a familiar screen appeared in front of me.

[Stamp Holder Detected.]

I stared at the screen in open mouthed surprise. A stamp holder? Here? Now?

I turned around, trying to find the stamp holder. Then, I spotted her.

Her back was turned to me and the blue arrow was above her head, pointing down. Worst of all, she was just stepping into her car.

Her door closed and I eyeballed the distance between us. There's no way I'd be able to make it to her in time. And even if I did get to her, I'd look super desperate for having run like that.

Fortunately, there's good news. Standing right next to her car and casually waving her off was someone I unfortunately recognized.

Wang Tae Bin.

Wang waved as she drove off, his face plastered with that smug look he always wore when he thought he was being amusing. I didn't hesitate. I made a beeline for him. I'd use him to find out who she was and surpass him in wealth. Whether he liked it or not, he'd help me surpass himself.

He turned, saw me and instantly sneered. "Well, well, well." He glanced at the building standing to the side. "I thought I saw a lost puppy around Adams Capital." He said with mock pity. I could feel the urge to punch his face rising inside of me but I suppressed it. "Didn't get the loan, huh?"

I wasn't here to fight. Not yet. Instead, I grinned, keeping my tone light.

"I did in fact, get the loan." I shrugged. "But I can't compare to the man seeing someone off in style." I gestured at the car that had just left. "Nice car though. You seem to know her pretty well."

I didn't know it was possible but Wang's smug grin somehow grew. He laughed in a way that sounded like nothing other than him mocking you. "Why do you want to know? Trust me, she's not exactly your speed. So, no need to get your hopes up."

"Of course." I chuckled. "I was just curious. People with taste tend to know other people with taste. I figured you'd introduce me."

Wang scoffed, throwing his head back. "Introduce you? As what? The guy desperate enough to chase down people in the lobby for a meeting that'll never happen?"

"Hmm." I hummed, keeping my cool. He did have a very punchable face. "Is there anything wrong with making conversation? Is that how you talk to her?"

Maybe I'll be able to make him name drop.

"Is that what we're calling this?" He glanced back at Abstract Capital before looking back at me with a smirk. "Maybe next time, try not to get rejected by banks and see if you get better introductions."

At that moment, a valet pulled up in front of us, driving an obnoxiously shiny red Ferrari. Wang's car. He winked at me, walking over to the driver's side.

"Better luck next time, pal." He called as he climbed in. "But I won't get my hopes up. People like her? They don't notice people like you." He gave me one last arrogant smirk before revving the engine and speeding off, leaving me standing there.

I watched him go. With just a few words, he'd somehow managed to ruin my day.

I hadn't even been able to get anything useful out of him. But I knew she had to be someone close to Wang.'s circle.

All I needed to do was keep my eyes on every woman who came near Wang. Sooner or later, I'd find her again.

And when I did, I'd make sure to leave Wang in the dust.
