Chapter 1173: Blood Inheritance Ceremony
Chapter 1173: Blood Inheritance Ceremony
As soon as the thirty-six Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords became one with the thirty-six sword projections, a burst of tremendous suction force abruptly erupted out of the array diagram, sucking in the Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords in the blink of an eye.
A look of bewilderment appeared on Han Li's face, and he could sense his own immortal spiritual power also being sucked into the array diagram in a frenzy.
In the blink of an eye, close to a third of his immortal spiritual power had been devoured, and all of the nearby world's origin qi was also surging into the array diagram.
On top of that, thick arcs of lightning had begun springing out of thin air before fusing into the array diagram as well.
A surprised look appeared on Han Li's face upon seeing this, but he allowed the array diagram to continue devouring his immortal spiritual power as it pleased.
Meanwhile, the world's origin qi on Eight Plains Mountain was churning violently, and dense, dark clouds were gathering up above, quickly taking up the entire sky.
Immediately thereafter, flashes of lightning began to appear in the dark clouds, accompanied by gusts of ferocious wind.
This lightning was drastically different from normal lightning, and it was giving off bursts of asphyxiating lightning law power fluctuations.
Such a massive commotion naturally attracted the attention of all of the primordial beings on Eight Plains Mountain, and many of them had flown out of their settlements to see what was happening.
"What's going on? Why have all of these dark clouds suddenly appeared?"
"Could it be that someone's triggered a lightning tribulation while making a breakthrough?"
"I don't think so. This doesn't feel like a lightning tribulation. Instead, it seems to be a natural phenomenon brought about by some powerful ability."
All of the primordial beings were perplexed by what they were witnessing, but to their relief, the lightning remained contained within the dark clouds, with none of it crashing down from the heavens above.
It didn't take long before all of the Great Encompassment Stage beings on the mountain were also alerted, and they all began attempting to assess the situation, only for their spiritual sense to be kept out by a burst of immense time law powers.
On the summit of Eight Plains Mountain, Bai Ze emerged from the palace with slightly furrowed brows.
He closed his eyes for a moment, then quickly reopened them as he cast a surprised gaze toward the courtyard where Han Li was staying.
"Impressive," he murmured to himself, then made his way back into the palace.
......
Inside the Flower Branch domain, Han Li was completely oblivious to the phenomena unfolding outside.
At this point, over half of his immortal spiritual power had already been devoured by the Almighty Sword Array Diagram, leaving him looking rather pale.
......
Several years passed by in the blink of an eye.
The primordial tribes were gathering at a rate far faster than Bai Ze anticipated, so he announced that the blood inheritance ceremony was going to be commencing early.
The date was set to around half a year later, and at this point, the entirety of Primordial Garrison City was already in a state of lockdown, with no one permitted to leave after entering the city.
This morning, the sound of a giant drum being struck rang out thrice in succession, causing the entire city to tremble violently. A series of primordial patterns lit up over the city walls, and before long, a vast expanse of dark red light had spread over the entire city.
Han Li emerged from his courtyard with Xiao Bai just in time to see enormous pillars of red light rising up into the sky before exploding like fireworks, forming a dark red light barrier that encompassed the entirety of Primordial Garrison City, Eight Plains Mountain, and the surrounding area in a radius of tens of thousands of kilometers.
The blood inheritance ceremony was finally about to commence!
Han Li's brows furrowed slightly at the sight of the dark red light barrier, and he began to extend his spiritual sense out of the city.
However, as soon as his spiritual sense came into contact with the light barrier, a burst of sharp pain instantly shot through his glabella, while the wisp of spiritual sense that he had released dissipated into nothingness.
Han Li's expression darkened slightly upon seeing this.
The restriction around the city was extremely formidable, so if anything were to go awry during the blood inheritance ceremony, it would be very difficult for him to escape the city. Thankfully, he always had the trump card of physical transmigration up his sleeve, but of course, that was only to be reserved as a last resort, given the heavy price that he had to pay to use it.
"Is something wrong?" Xiao Bai asked in a concerned manner at the sight of Han Li's dark expression.
"It's alright. Regardless of what happens, I'll be here with you," Han Li replied as he gave Xiao Bai a reassuring pat on the head.
Xiao Bai lowered his head in silence, not pursuing the matter any further.
Ever since he became aware of his Ink-Eyed Pixiu lineage, he had become rather withdrawn and nowhere near as energetic as before. It seemed that he was both looking forward to the blood inheritance ceremony, but also felt a little uneasy.
"Let's go, it's about time that we scaled the mountain," Han Li said as he set off with Xiao Bai toward a plaza at the foot of the mountain.
Even before reaching the foot of the mountain, Han Li could already see countless primordial beings gathered in the distance. There were close to ten thousand of them in total, and at the forefront of the gathering were the Heavenly Fox Tribe and the Mountain Moving Ape Tribe. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Liu Qing was standing at the foot of the mountain with several hundred other Heavenly Fox beings, and situated right next to them was a collection of Mountain Moving Ape beings that also numbered in the hundreds.
Just like the Heavenly Fox Tribe, the Mountain Moving Ape Tribe was also one of the sixteen premier primordial tribes, and it had inherited the bloodline of the Giant Mountain Ape, which was one of the eight True Spirit Kings. However, the bloodline had been diluted further and further generation after generation, and the tribe no longer possessed anywhere the power of the almighty Giant Mountain Ape.
As a result of their thinning Giant Mountain Ape bloodline, they had gradually dropped down the ranks among the sixteen premier tribes, to the point that they were currently considered one of the bottom-dwelling premier tribes.
In terms of physical appearance, Mountain Moving Ape beings were rather similar to Qing Ape beings, except they were far smaller in stature and had dark green fur. Furthermore, they didn't appear as menacing as the Qing Ape beings, and there was a more civilized and intelligent look about them.
Their leader was a hunch-backed elderly man dressed in a white robe with a pair of extremely long, white eyebrows, and he appeared no different from an unremarkable, frail old man.
Even though the two tribes were situated next to each other on the plaza, there was a clear divide between the two of them, indicating that they weren't all that close.
Liu Le'er had already spotted Han Li and Xiao Bai even before they arrived, and a bright smile appeared on her face as she turned to approach them, only to be sternly held back by Liu Qing, who chastised, "Stay focused! We're not here to play around!"
Liu Le'er could only stick out her tongue in a sheepish manner in response.
Han Li gave her a smile and a nod, then calmly made his way onto the plaza with Xiao Bai, while all of the nearby primordial beings looked on with puzzled expressions.
There was a Mountain Moving Ape being nearby that was far smaller in stature than his brethren, standing at only around half the height of an adult human, and his fur was also a pure white color, making him stand out like a sore thumb.
He was looking at Han Li and Xiao Bai with a curious expression, the latter of which bared his fangs in intimidation, clearly not very pleased by the Mountain Moving Ape being's intrigued scrutiny.
Funnily enough, the Mountain Moving Ape beings was quite the coward, and he was so frightened by Xiao Bai's display of intimidation that he immediately ducked behind one of his taller brethren.
Xiao Bai was rather amused by this, and his disgruntled expression was replaced by an amused smile.
The little white ape snuck a glance at Xiao Bai from around the Mountain Moving Ape being that he was hiding behind, and a wide smile also appeared on his face at the sight of Xiao Bai's amused expression.
"Fellow Daoist Han, I understand that His Majesty has given you permission to attend the ceremony, but this is an event of the utmost importance for all of our primordial tribes, so there are some things that I must inform you of," Liu Qing suddenly said.
"Please go ahead, Senior," Han Li prompted.
"A gong will be struck on the mountain summit soon, and that will serve as a signal for the primordial tribes to scale the mountain using the eight paths around the mountain. These mountain paths have restrictions placed upon them by the eight ancient True Spirit Kings, and these restrictions are effective on all living beings.
“Under the effects of these restrictions, even powerful primordial beasts with formidable physical constitutions would struggle to scale the mountain, so make sure to be on your guard and don't push yourself too hard," Liu Qing cautioned.
"Thank you for informing me of this, Senior, I'll keep that in mind," Han Li replied with a nod while taking a concerned glance at Liu Le'er and Xiao Bai.
Neither of them excelled in terms of their physical constitutions, so was it not going to be a struggle for them to scale the mountain?
"There's no need to worry about them. The effects of the restrictions will be less potent on those who possess the bloodlines of the eight ancient True Spirit Kings, so it'll be easier for them to scale the mountain than others," Liu Qing reassured, and Han Li was quite relieved to hear this.
He looked up at the majestic mountain before him to discover that the entire mountain was enshrouded under a layer of dark red light. Directly up ahead was a stone staircase that had been chiseled into the mountain and was over ten thousand feet tall, resembling a giant ladder that led up to the heavens.
Right at this moment, three resounding gong strikes rang out from the mountain summit, sending soundwaves that were visible to the naked eye sweeping through the air in all directions.
These soundwaves seemed to contain some type of special energy fluctuations, and as they washed over him, Han Li felt as if the true spirit bloodlines in his body had been awakened and had begun circulating on their own.
After taking a moment to compose himself, he looked around to discover that all of the surrounding primordial beings' auras had swelled drastically, and faint, pink mist had begun seeping out of their bodies.
What do you think?
