Chapter 1217 There Must Be Some Solution
-----
As we talked about Aria and the Blighters, we learned many things, and one of them was also how Aria operated.
"Aria most likely forces a soul to become a Nature Soul somehow, and it corrupts itself immediately with the powers of Kalma." Said grandma Jannis. "So she doesn't even need to first raise a Druid, anybody with enough talent for magic, or perhaps just the intention to join her would do so… even if doing this would severely reduce their lifespan."
So it even reduces their lifespan… I don't really like the sound of it! Are these people really okay with doing this to gain magic power? But why though? They must have more reasons than just because, right?
"I see… This is really wicked," I sighed. "But… is killing them all really the way to do this? They're still people after all, we're not dealing with monsters."
"Planta…" Rita sighed. "You're too soft! You've seen what they're capable of and how they don't even hesitate! They even worked alongside demons, so they're done for. Also, they can turn themselves into undead monsters, isn't that freaky enough for you?"
"But Rita! I know, okay? I know all of that but… after yesterday, after everything that happened, I'm a bit tired of death, of killing…" I muttered. "At the very least, I want to try helping her."
I don't know why but Aria reminded me of myself more than I could have thought.
Someone that slowly lost their faith on themselves, and in everything.
That slowly fell more into depression, after the loss of those she loved, her family.
Someone that needed others the most, but that never received the help she needed.
I guess that's where our paths diverged.
But if I hadn't had my friends or my family to rely on, I might have only worsened.
She is not some evil demon that thrives on destruction, she was once one of the druids.
She was once Jose and Jannis' sister.
There are so few of them, only three now.
To kill them all… it would be too much for me.
Isn't there a better way to solve this?
Nothing is set on stone; people can change even after everything.
If Aria truly suffered like that, if she was really that lonely.
I want to help her or try doing so!
"If the problem lies within their Nature Souls, then… I will find a way to heal it and then help them progress even further," I said. "If I do that… Would they stop?"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
As I spoke, everyone fell into silence. I guess not even Mark, or my daughter expected me to still have my soft side. I've certainly become bolder, and when it comes to protect those I love, I don't hesitate.
However, I'm still me. And I don't want to stop being myself, to let the rage consume me, to let a murderous intent take over, I've killed demons, monsters, undead, and even people that turned themselves into demons.
Even then, I want to try something different this time. Maybe I'm going against what I've shown to others. Maybe I'll look cowardly or stupid, and yes, maybe that's true.
But I believe everyone that regrets their decisions deserves a second time!
"I-I have no idea," said Jannis. "We tried talking with her with Jose back then when we confronted her, but she was too powerful, we were unable to get through her before she started trying to kill us."
"Maybe if we neutralize her first?" wondered my daughter.
"Elena? Would you help?" I gasped.
"They tried to kill us… and I fucking hate them for that," said my daughter. "But… but if they're victims of that goddess brainwashing, then there's a chance they actually didn't mean what they did, right?"
"Well, those that tried to kill us already died, only Aria escaped, the others, which we've not seen before, might be different too," said Anna. "Right?"
"…Yeah!" Mark suddenly said. "If my Elayne believes that they can change, then it's my duty to punch them until they knock it off so she can talk to them, right? I'll help!"
"Mark…" I felt moved, I knew my love would also help me! "I never doubted you would agree!"
I hugged him tightly, kissing his lips, he happily responded with another kiss.
"Of course, you're a good person, and I love you exactly because of that," he said. "If you believe they can change, then who I am to doubt your heart? Let me help you."
"Thank you my love! Mooch! Mooch!" I ended kissing him a lot. "A-Also thank you Elena, and Anna! But what about the rest?"
Everyone seemed to have confliction opinions…
But.
"I also want to see if they can change," Judith said.
"Judith?!" Rudras gasped. "Are you insane?! They're Blighters! They've abandoned Nature and…"
"And so what?! They were abandoned by Nature too, by us…" said Judith. "Aria was… grandpa Jose's childhood friend. Is there really not a way to help her?"
"But…" Rudras seemed like the one that didn't like that idea at all. "To befriend Blighters, that's just pure insanity. They thrive and grow stronger by destroying forests and life… They're our total opposites!"
"Hmm…" Grandma Jannis sighed. "To be honest, I also want that."
"Eh?!" Rudras was left speechless.
"Me too!"
Suddenly, Lily ran to my side, hugging me.
"Elayne is a treasure of a person, her heart knows no bounds," she said. "Her love goes to her family and friends, so I knew she would eventually say something like this, haha… I've known for not for long, but I believe she's my beloved friend. And… I also kind of believe they deserve a chance. A little one at least."
"Lily!" I hugged her tightly, kissing her cheek. "Thank you!"
"It's nothing! I'm your friend after all, right?" she smiled cutely. "Let's help them."
"Ugh! You guys are so weird!" Rita groaned. "But… fine!"
The idea of helping the Blighters wasn't something that everyone was going to swallow easily, but it was something I wanted to suggest nonetheless, and something I was rather intent on doing so.
