Chapter 151 Mortal Realm Guilds
Petne Chaos and the Eclipse Syndicate
The Mortal Realm was governed not just by empires and royal families but by forces far more elusive, more insidious.
One of these forces was the vast network of guilds, secret organizations that operated across dimensions, transcending borders and rules.
These guilds controlled not only the flow of wealth and power but also dealt in darker trades: assassination, forbidden artifacts, and ancient secrets that even emperors dared not seek.
Among these, the Eclipse Syndicate stood as one of the most feared and revered. Known for operating outside of the laws, the Syndicate had access to information and items that others could only dream of.
They were the perfect guild for someone like Petne Chaos—the ruthless alter ego of Pyris Obsidian—to seek out.
For Pyris, time was running out. He needed to find the Blood Chalice, a powerful artifact that could elevate his plans beyond even the most ambitious realms of possibility.
The Chalice had been lost to time, but if any group had the information he needed, it would be the Eclipse Syndicate.
Guilds in the Mortal Realm played many roles, not only as hubs for commerce but also for far more dangerous tasks. From the high towers of magic wielded by the Arcane Brotherhood, which specialized in uncovering lost and ancient spells, to the treasure-hunting Argent Sanctum, whose elite adventurers scoured forgotten temples, these guilds were deeply embedded in the fabric of the Mortal Realm.
However, their roles went deeper than scholarly pursuits. Many of these guilds, especially the Eclipse Syndicate, also engaged in bounty hunting and beast slaying—tracking down corrupted creatures that wandered the world.
These missions were often commissioned by noble houses, guilds, or even entire kingdoms to protect their lands from the chaos that such creatures could bring.
The Syndicate operated in the shadows, functioning in a gray area between legal and illegal work. They didn't just trade artifacts or hunt beasts for bounty—they also accepted contracts for espionage, assassination, and high-profile theft.
Their operations extended into nearly every empire, making them a powerful force that rivaled even the royal families.

Pyris stood at the large bay windows of his office, golden eyes reflecting the dying light of the day. He weighed his next move carefully, knowing that once he put his plan into action, there would be no turning back.
He could feel Lia's presence in the back of his mind, ever watchful, though she had remained silent for the last hour. She knew when to press and when to let him think.
In his hand, Pyris held a black card, an untraceable key to the Eclipse Syndicate's services. It was one of the rarest items in the world among elites, given only to exclusive clients and reserved for those with vast wealth and influence.
House Obsidian had acquired the card generations ago, passing it down from one head of the family to the next. It allowed total anonymity—no questions were asked, no names were given.
Taking a deep breath, Pyris placed the card on the table in front of him and activated it with a subtle flick of magic. The black surface shimmered as the air around him grew cold.
A disembodied, distorted voice echoed from the card, devoid of any identifying traits, neither male nor female.
"Greetings, Petne Chaos." The voice was calm, calculated, and emotionless. "How may the Eclipse Syndicate assist you today?"
Pyris—now in his Petne Chaos identity—leaned forward. "I require information about the Blood Chalice," he said, his voice carrying a cool authority.
The voice on the other end hesitated for just a moment, which was rare. "The Blood Chalice...a dangerous request. That is highly classified information, Mr. Chaos. We do possess it, but retrieving such details is not something money can buy. You must accomplish something for us first.
A task that will equal the value of the information you seek."
Petne expected this. The Eclipse Syndicate never dealt in mere transactions of wealth. They always asked for something more—a price that could not be easily paid with gold or power.
Intrigued but unsurprised, Petne nodded. "What is the mission?"
The voice spoke with its characteristic monotone calm. "There is a general in the Sunstone Empire—General Kassius. He is a key figure in the rebellion brewing against the ruling emperor. Our client wants him eliminated. The task requires subtlety and precision, as the Midnight Dominion where the general is stationed is heavily fortified.
We need you to infiltrate, eliminate the general, and extract his arcane gauntlet—an artifact said to control the cursed warriors loyal to him. No alarms. No witnesses. And the gauntlet must be retrieved at all costs."
Pyris's golden eyes gleamed as he listened. This was no ordinary assassination—this was a task that would require immense skill, combat prowess, and most importantly, subtlety.
The Midnight Dominion the capital of Sunstone empire was notorious for its powerful rogue mages and cursed soldiers. It was a land that had swallowed countless adventurers and mercenaries who had tried to challenge its rulers.
But this was exactly the kind of mission that suited his persona as Petne Chaos.
"Consider it done," Pyris replied, his voice low and confident.

The card shimmered once more as the voice confirmed the details. "Upon successful completion of this mission, the information on the Blood Chalice will be yours. Good luck, Mr. Chaos. We will be watching."
The connection severed, and Pyris leaned back in his chair. His mind was already racing with strategies. He knew the Sunstone Empire well enough, but the Midnight Dominion was an entirely different beast.
The arcane gauntlet was a key to controlling an army of cursed warriors, which meant it would be heavily guarded by magic and soldiers who had long forsaken their humanity.
The Sunstone Empire was a realm far from the Dragon Empire and it's rule of the empires's control, known for its strict governance by the self proclaimed emperor and it's barbaric ways of life .
Pyris had little reason to care for their politics, but he understood the importance of discretion.
The Eclipse Syndicate was not asking him to simply kill someone—they were asking for political sabotage on a grand scale.
Petne's golden eyes gleamed with dark intent. He thrived in situations like this, where cunning and manipulation took precedence over brute force.
"I accept," Petne Chaos said, his voice unflinching. "I will return with the mission completed."
The card faded, its magic dissipating into the air. Pyris remained still for a moment, thinking about the complexity of the task.
As Petne Chaos, Pyris knew that this was no simple task, and he wouldn't do it alone. He immediately reached out to Aurelia and Alexa.
They were powerful in their own right—Aurelia, his sister, had mastery over death magic, while Alexa had begun showing signs of awakening her Divinity Element.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
This could act as a boost to awaken more powers of her, but Pyris didn't call Alera on purpose, and with phantoms keeping the estate and Alera safe, Pyris wouldn't worry while he was on the mission...
What do you think?
