Demon Lord's Reincarnation

Chapter 1326 Pass it on - There were more?

Hearing JP's thoughts, I couldn't help but agree because yeah, I'm already against this shit in the first place, so, I'm kind of happy we were almost seeing eye to eye even though he still welcomed this mission with open arms.

In addition, giving additional rewards to someone who did something extra—without added benefit to the actual congealing of their group—was creating more of a divide if this was the Mayor's way of putting them through a team-building activity.

While it was true that a little bit of competition wouldn't hurt, as JP mentioned, that sort of thing should be done in a safe space, not outside where actual life could be endangered.

It was just something where the reward wasn't as good for the risk involved, and if the Mayor planned to continue these types of random events, some adjustments should be made.

In any case, it seemed like the words of a much younger kid got through the Mayor because it made him nod and ponder for a bit, before he dismissed everyone to either sleep first or have some well-deserved breakfast.

Obviously, most of the women tried to get out of their sweaty, dirty, and/or bloody clothes first before they came back to get some breakfast while the other majority did the complete opposite. Still, there were a few who chose sleep first—which was a surprise to me because Brownie was one of them—but the look on his face the moment I told him we'd be leaving soon was fucking priceless.

"WHAT?! AFTER BREAKFAST?!"

I scratched the side of my head, "Yep, sorry. Unless you wanna stay here for a while with the Mayor's group?"

"I— Fuck, guess I'll just have some breakfast now and sleep on the way."

Hooper who had been pretty quiet most of the time spoke up, "Or we could have some breakfast now, sleep on the way, and have second breakfast when we arrive… That's the dream—" then he realized I was present and looking at him funny, "Ah— Didn't mean to waste resource but staying up do make me hungry, sir, apologies—"

I waved him off, "Not taken but at this point on, talk to Artem as to who'd take the first week with them on D. Jose Station. I'd love it if you divide yourselves into two but I'd also love it if either JP or Tennyson is present to lead each half, is that clear?"

Joe then cut in, "I'm still going with ya, right?"

"Yup, you'll get your ear checked and if we're lucky, I'll set you up with Royo so you can have your custom shit done."

"Sweet— Can I bring my RV?"

"Why not?"

"Fuck, yeah! Come on! Let's chow!"

So for the sake of brevity, after a couple of hours, I led most of m group back to my place while Artem led his group to D. Jose Station—and I have him in contact with Morales' group and the people from my own territory.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

It was because while they could do well on their own, we'd still need to supplement them with supporting workers who would handle their day-to-day needs and maintain the upkeep. There was also the need for some welders or carpenters to mold that place to their liking before we'd send in more things for comfort like pillows, mattresses, solar panels, generators, and some electronic devices.

But from the top of my head, one weakness of that train station was parking because as safe as they were from above, they'd still have to find a way to keep their vehicles safe and secure from below or have it in a way they could bring it up to safety.

In addition, one particular detail I haven't mentioned before was that the D. Jose Station was right next to the Manila City Jail, and I had the faintest clue about that place's current status.

But what I do know about it before the world ended was that it was one of the overcrowded prisons in the whole fucking world and while it was able to house a thousand or so inmates—male and female—during our current president's regime and war towards drugs, it more than fucking doubled because, in 2018, it was reported to house more than six thousand.

I could still remember how each one of them would be positioned lying on their sides as they slept—with probably fifty or so inmates in one cell—and I could only imagine what would happen if a riot occurred, there was a shortage of food, one of the many gangs picked a fight with another, or better yet, when the fucking zombie apocalypse happened.

If anything, I'd rather square up with six thousand deadheads than six thousand inmates because as much as I was godly with my blades, that place had this small museum of handmade weapons that were confiscated and numbered more than their current residency.

There was a thing called getting swarmed and I'm pretty sure their gang leaders would be hiding a pistol or two up their keyster.

'If I could make use of my surroundings, sure, but if they have the homecourt advantage which also meant making use of their surroundings, I'd just bomb or set fire to the place and just sift and search through the ashes.'

And before anyone would ask, I'd rather flatten the place after burning it to the ground because as good as it was to be a base for a criminal or an inmate, it'd be as difficult to navigate like the Dewey's Forest of Death.

And while I could probably memorize the fucking layout and have the advantage to myself, I could just easily make a maze of my own with far better facilities though the difference would be was that the place was already built while my idea would still need to be constructed.

Anywho, the drive to my place was easy as pie because we made use of our access road, and I have just been informed that Mitch—the current CO of our outposts in Subic Bay—had started divvying up his troops to be sent to our various allied locations.

I actually thought that I would have some sleep as we get back but I needed to facilitate each transfer because I was partly responsible for the Admiral's troops. But yeah, I was completely saved by Oscar and Johnny's grace wherein the old man took care of the troops using land vehicles while Johnny took care of the troops going by sea.

All I have to do was direct all their calls to Vera while Rin updated all our records—and everything else was done within half a day, and it gave me enough time to catch up on sleep, play with Zeus, and quickly drop-in via radio to Tennyson's crew who was picked by Artem to stay with them for the week.

I was mostly trying to keep everything afloat with the help of everyone, of course, but the problem in my head right now was the thought of something going wrong as our numbers grew larger in size.

It was totally different from handling a bunch of young adults but having people I trust do it for me definitely helps.

In any case, right as I woke up from my afternoon nap, I noticed that Kaley was sitting close to Ilana with their laptops open—and the look Kaley gave me once she discovered that I had just woken up scared the living fuck outta me.

It was only then I discovered that Ilana was also shaking in her boots because yeah, we fucking stooges tried to steal important information from the US fucking Government, and by some stroke of luck, we fucking succeeded. To this moment, I wasn't exactly sure if we were actually baited to steal those files but if that was really an offense, I should've been shot on the spot.

But now, I had to explain to Kaley that this was a spur-of-the-moment thing though I had to agree that I should've been using my good 'ol brain before doing something so fucking dangerous.

"YEAH! Right as I thought that she was just here to have some alone time with you! I thought— UGH! So, so, so unbelievable! You could've been killed—"

And I just had to do it, "Or worse, expelled—"

"NOW'S NOT THE TIME FOR JOKES!"

"I mean, it worked?"

"What if it didn't?! Don't you need to use something better than your phone to hack into their system— and how convenient it was to just have a USB port in that table thingy?! Don't they have IT people as well over there?! They should've known by now! Wouldn't they?!"

Ilana scratched the side of her cheek, "That's the thing, they wouldn't care."

"Wha— How?!"

"I already tried looking for information about Tatiana's unrequited lover and Oscar's daughter— I mean, Jennifer. Those people might be working for the US Government but they know we mean no harm, everyone just wanted information—so they gave us what they could but it was still up to us as to what we can do with it. Fuck it— we could also be their backups, if anything."

"T-Then what did they give us?"

Ilana pointed at some of the folders in her laptop, "These ones are from the files regarding the Senator— I mean, The Admiral's ex-wife or Ella's mom, Jolene. It's pretty much everything they showed him that other time besides the copies of the medical files from her and some of the other patients that had undergone the same trial."

"Wait, there were others?"
