Chapter 436 The Big Stage
'D-Damn, now that I'm standing in front of it... isn't the main headquarters way too huge?!' Shye inwardly thought as he gazed at the majestic Raven's Blade Adventurer Guild Main Headquarters.
It still had the same unusual architectural design, but even compared to the other guilds on the same street, it was significantly larger than most, except for a few that were likely also among the top fifty guilds in Valenzia City.
Since he was loitering in front of the headquarters' entrance, many adventurers from Raven's Blade—all looking way tougher than those in Balkrow, stared at him with intrigue.
Shortly after, one of them approached him.
"H-Hey, little brother, y-you're Shye Crowley aren't you?"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"A-Ahh…yes," Shye replied awkwardly, still a bit confused by people treating him as if he was some big celebrity when he was just a recently promoted emerald-ranked adventurer.
What he didn't realize was that the competition in the city of dreams was way more cutthroat than what he imagined and that a young adventurer's potential is second only in status compared to those who have already made it big.
After all, the best time to hug a talented youngster's golden thigh was before they rose to great heights.
It was only natural for adventurers, faced with the harsh reality of their inevitable mediocrity, to mentally list potential individuals they could align with to achieve a more successful career than they could on their own.
Shye was one such individual.
However, they expected him to only arrive two to three years later as in their minds, he at least needed that much time to grow before taking on the big stage.
Thus, most of the Raven's Blade adventurers chilling outside the headquarters were puzzled at his arrival.
"Why did you visit the main branch? I was really shocked when Guild Master Dong stormed into our guild, furious and accusing our guild master of stealing you from him."
Ignoring the part where another guild master raged upon finding out that he joined Raven's Blade, Shye replied:
"Ahh, I've just been promoted to the main branch and I need to–"
"WHAT?! You've already been promoted?!" The diamond-ranked adventurer talking to him exclaimed in utter shock and disbelief.
Shortly after…
[Congratulations! You've earned 6,182 points!]
'W-what?'
Shye couldn't believe how many points he just earned. However, upon entering the main headquarters of the guild, all his questions were instantly answered as he was greeted by the guild's luxurious interior.
Above, a high and wide blackwood ceiling was adorned with an enormous fluorescent crystal chandelier suspended in the center.
Below, five quest counters made of polished granite were positioned right in front of the entrance, manned by five beautiful young women which gave the place an opulent yet highly competitive atmosphere.
Then, as he glanced to the left, Shye saw the vastest indoor lobby he had ever seen, filled with thousands of spaciously arranged tables and chairs made of high-quality refined oakwood.
Additionally, there were at least a hundred food and beverage options, leaving Shye awestruck by the sheer grandeur of the place.
The already immense lobby back in the Balkrow Branch was nothing in comparison to the main branch's.
To his right were neatly arranged rows of blackwood chairs where adventurers, carrying sack bags filled with quest items, sat waiting for one of the five rewards receptionists stationed at smooth marble countertops to call their names.
Lastly, behind the quest counters were staircases leading to the upper floors, accessible only to adventurers of certain ranks.
Upon witnessing the similar yet way more grand and luxurious setup of the main branch, flames of passion ignited once again in Shye's young heart.
This was further fueled by the fact that one of the thorns in his heart—Shirley's initially headstrong yet futile situation—had now been resolved, bringing a sense of relief to him.
Ignoring the gazes of tens of thousands of Raven's Blade adventurers looking his way, Shye walked towards one of the empty quest counters, retrieving all the necessary documents for his transfer, including Corvus' recommendation letter, and placing them on the desk.
"Hello, I'm Shye Crowley, a recently promoted rookie from the Balkrow Branch."
"Hello, Sir Crowley. Welcome to the main branch. We were expecting you to arrive two weeks ago…Did you encounter any difficulties on the way?"
"A-Ahh…yes, I encountered some difficulties on the way so I was delayed."
"I see. Since you're two weeks late, you'll only receive half the rewards upon completing your first quest. After that, you'll get everything in full. Here's your Valenzia Token, your Raven's Blade guild badge, and your updated adventurer license. Once more, welcome to the main branch. Happy Adventuring!
Next!"
'W-Wha…that's it?' Shye inwardly thought as he slowly walked to the sides in slight disbelief.
He had assumed that Soaring Raven would summon him or something, given the warm welcome from his guildmates, only to be confronted by the reality that his admission was nothing out of the ordinary.
He was treated just like any other adventurer who was promoted to the main branch.
'Just how I like it!'
What he didn't like was what happened next: being swarmed by his guildmates.
He wasn't stupid and he had already determined their intentions, hence, he immediately declined all their party invitations.
As politely as possible, of course, as he still needed to help the midget look for ten priests/priestesses with the required curse removal skill.
He couldn't act arrogantly like he did in the Balkrow Branch.
Moreover, his current strength wouldn't allow him to do so as countless high-ranked adventurers could kill him as easily as turning their hands.
This time, he had to think about his actions, tread carefully, and advance his career one step at a time.
After all, this was already the big stage, unlike a mere adventurer hub city like Balkrow.
…Politely bowing to the slightly disappointed crowd, Shye left the main branch through the front door.
'Sigh…Finally out of there. For starters, let's find a place to stay.'
