Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 406 Second Shelter

"Dodge!"

Shane shouted as he saw that they were being targeted by the enemies. There were five SUVs, and there were at least three people at the back pointing their guns at them.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Then, Shane immediately heard Cloud's warning about the bullets fired at them. They weren't normal ones and were enchanted by some sort of ability!

Thankfully, Shane was still prepared.

He tightened his grip, focusing his Spirit Points as he poured many of them into his Aura of Protection...

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Shane was able to block the attacks successfully, but because of the strange bullets they used, the dome created by his Aura became slightly visible…

Indeed, a faint glow surrounded him, and everyone could finally see the barrier that Shane had created. It was huge!

It actually covered about 7 meters around him! And it made them realize how huge it really was.

"It must be eating a lot of his Spirit Points." This was everyone's thoughts, including his companions.

Nonetheless, Shane didn't stop and activated his Telekinesis, lifting two pistols from his side. With a subtle correction of their angles, he aimed them at the approaching SUVs, ready for the showdown.

As the enemies in the SUVs spotted Shane's injured figure, they fired back once again… This time, they seemed to have used other enchanted bullets.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Bright flashes erupted from their weapons, but Shane was undeterred. With his Phantasm Rush and Agility alone, he was able to dodge the bullets. Then, by predicting their trajectory after seeing the barrels of the guns, he was able to perfectly execute his dodging maneuvers.

He didn't block every shot this time since it would consume his Spirit Points a lot faster. But it worked really well for him!

The bullets whizzed past him, and then, with his Telekinesis still working, it allowed him to control his pistols for counterattacks. He pulled the triggers of the pistols, sending a barrage of shots toward the closest SUV.

At the same time, he commanded his Sentinel Mk-IV Automated Turret to join the fray.

The Turret was activated, and its own targeting system locked onto the moving vehicles. It unleashed a stream of incendiary rounds that erupted against the SUVs, sending sparks flying and causing the vehicles to swerve as they all got damaged to some degree.

"Perfect…" Shane thought as he looked at the surviving enemies.

Although that was an incredible attack from the Turret, the enemies weren't defenseless.

Just as Shane thought that he would end this battle, the enemies activated mysterious barriers that protected their front with a translucent wall.

The bullets struck the barriers and ricocheted harmlessly away, leaving Shane momentarily frustrated. Yet, he could see the strain in the enemies' faces; they were struggling to maintain their defenses under the combined fire of Shane's pistols and the Turret's energy bullets.

"Haaa!"

With his Titan's Roar, Shane affected the enemies' concentration and channelled his Aura to intensify his attacks.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

His pistols fired again, and this time, he pierced through the barriers, hitting the front of one SUV and causing it to shudder violently. The occupants inside screamed as the vehicle sped off course while smoke billowed from the engine.

It was then followed by the explosion of the cars.

Boom! Boom!

Shane received a few more of these messages…

"Threedown!" Shane shouted while adrenaline coursed through his veins.

But he knew the fight wasn't over. He glanced back at his team, who were shooting the enemies as well, although they weren't too effective…

"Scatter!" he commanded. "I'll handle this!"

With only two SUVs remaining, Shane turned his attention back to the enemies.

His heart raced as he prepared for a bold move. He hadn't tried this before but he was filled with confidence that he could do it!

He then activated his Armored Dash, a technique that doesn't just amplify his speed and strength but essentially transforms him like a Juggernaut Zombie for a brief moment!

In an instant, he launched himself forward!

"Aahh! This guy is crazy! Die!" The driver of the SUV in front was shocked for a moment after seeing Shane rush forward, attempting to clash with his vehicle. However, this shock turned into elation as he believed that he would achieve victory.

"Brother!" Diana was also unable to understand what Shane was thinking. She knew that Shane was strong and could block an attack from Armored Zombies, but that wasn't easy. Furthermore, she knew that Shane had an Exosuit on him at that time.

However, Shane wasn't wearing an Exosuit and shouldn't be that strong physically, and they all couldn't help but feel worried even though they knew how strong Shane was.

As for Sandra, she unconsciously held her healing token and was ready to heal Shane if in case he was injured.

Soon, the first SUV was directly in front of him, and Shane smashed toward it like a freight train!

Bang!

The driver barely had time to realize that he had made a mistake before Shane crashed into the side of the vehicle with incredible force, killing everyone inside!

Boom!

[ You have eliminated a Human Survivor. ]

This message was repeated a few more times before it stopped.

"Ahhh…" Diana was shocked after seeing what had happened.

The impact sent the SUV spinning off the road, metal crunching as it rolled onto its side. Shane stood unharmed amidst the debris. He even seemed to be ready to do another dash with the last SUV!

She then glanced at the last SUV that had already stopped at the back. Diana could see the fear in their eyes, but Shane wasn't done yet.

Just like what she thought, Shane just steadied his breath and prepared for the final confrontation. He could hear the shouts of the enemies inside the last SUV. Their voices were filled with panic as they left the SUV and scrambled...

Boom!

Shane used his Armored Dash once again, but after seeing that everyone left the vehicle, he swiftly used his Momentum Shift and avoided the destruction of the innocent vehicle…

'Right… It's better to bring that with us so we can quickly return to Long Lodge Shelter.' Shane thought, as he just recalled that the others don't have motorbikes like him.

"We surrender!" The remaining enemies shouted after seeing that Shane was just observing the vehicle and wasn't truly out of his mind…

From their voices, Shane could tell that they were all trembling with fear after witnessing the deaths of their comrades.

Shane smiled and lowered his weapon a bit, assessing the situation.

Although he had been accustomed to killing with the memories that he had received, he wasn't very inclined to kill people who had surrendered unless they were truly evil… After all, he could still convert the people who were within his territory.

"Alright… Diana, do you have something to tie them up?" Shane asked.

"Yes, brother! I have some chains with me." Diana replied.

Instead of finishing them off, he chose to capture them, knowing that their lives could still be valuable if they managed to change.

With the enemies secured, Shane led them back to the base they had just cleared.

The place was filled with tension since this place was just bombarded a while ago and every member of the cruel clan was killed except for the slaves…

Nonetheless, the atmosphere quickly shifted as Shane stepped inside, towing the captured members of the clan.

The slaves in the mines immediately recognized the group of people who were captured.

"Are we being saved?"

"Perhaps our owner will change today, huh."

"That's good… I just hope that they'll at least feed us three times… No, even two times a day."

"That man was followed by beautiful girls… Maybe we're lucky this time. I'm sure they have a good heart."

"Hmph! Don't get deceived by those appearances. Most pretty girls are evil."

"Hey, don't be that biased. Just hope for the better."

"Let's just pray for that then…"

The captured slaves were surely grateful that a change was coming. However, there was still uncertainty in their hearts since the change could be better or worse. Nothing was set in stone.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

As Shane looked at the slaves and heard their whispers, he immediately realized what was going on.

This time, the base was eerily quiet, filled only with the weary eyes of the slaves… They were all waiting on what was about to happen now that the 'boss' had changed.

Diana's heart sank as she took in their disheveled appearances, the remnants of their captivity still visible in their expressions. It was the same for Shane and the others.

The first thing that they felt was pity.

"Is there a representative in your group?" Shane asked since he believed that if he managed to convince their leader, it would be a lot easier to proceed with his plan.

As expected, the slaves cleared a path, showing the leader of the group. This person had a tall figure with sunken cheeks but had eyes that were filled with hope…
