Infinite Potential System

Chapter 475 It's Him!

When William reached the stairwell, he immediately consulted the Navigation Radar to get a better idea of what was happening above him. The three marked students were already on the 14th floor, but they had yet to leave the starting room despite being almost ten minutes ahead of William's pace.

He decided to consult the System, afraid of some sort of ambush.

-They're waiting for something, but it's probably not you.

Hmm, I'll take my chances then. William thought as he started to ascend.

A few murmurs were heard when he neared the top of the stairs, but they were so quiet he couldn't make sense of what was said. Only when he physically entered the starting room could William make complete sense of what was going on.

He stood on the second to last step, scanning the room carefully for any killing intent or hidden traps.

Roughly thirty students were scattered around the classroom-sized area in three-to-five person groups. It was almost a repeat of what William saw outside the Dungeon, except no one was consulting maps of any sort.

Instead, their hands were hovering over the walls, feeling for any out of place bricks or unfamiliar grooves. This was because... the starting room didn't have an exit!

Instead, there was a solid brown block of earth in the place where the door should have been, with not even a keyhole in sight. Behind it, William could tell simply by using his Ascension Realm perception that there was a treasure chest emitting a considerable amount of Earth Mana.

Is that the Earth treasure you mentioned? I thought you said it was on the 20th floor. William asked the System.

-This is hardly a treasure to me, but it would be quite attractive to you or your peers.

"Where's your group?" a female third year sporting long blue hair walked over to the stairwell and placed her hands on her hips. She looked to be about 24 years old, but William couldn't be sure.

As she looked down at William, a cyan blue light flashed in her eyes and a Detection Spell was cast. It covered William and the stairwell, bounced through the 13th floor, and eventually rebounded up the stairwell until it returned to her.

"They went back, but I wanted to see what's up here." William said with a shrug as the woman cast a secondary Seeking Spell that placed an obvious tracker in the form of a blue flower petal on William's body. Either the girl was confident in her skills, or this was a test.

William decided to bet on the latter, flicking his wrist and slicing apart the petal with Space Magic, its two halves falling apart and dropping to the floor. As it fell, a miniscule piece of pollen floated from the petal and landed on William's Illusionist Cloak.

"Impressive." the girl smirked and turned around and walked back towards her group.

Just before she returned, William split apart the pollen and dusted it off his cloak. He looked over to see the girl had paused and was looking at him, to which he smiled and winked.

Even at the Initial Deity Realm, the girl found herself slightly affected by William's Physical Charm Talent at that moment. She hurriedly averted her gaze and closed her eyes, realizing that William was not easy prey.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

A few others in the room noticed the exchange and chose to ignore William's presence, despite his status as a first-year student. It was obvious that William had some terrifying abilities from his bloodline.

While the students returned to scanning the walls for clues, William took the last step up the stairs, fully entering the room. Just as he stepped forward, the room started to shake, and a layer of Earth was shaved off the brown block and disappeared from sight.

"Who found it?!? What did you do?" a male student looked wildly around the room for the source of the change.

At the same time, everyone prepared for a battle. If the treasure was unveiled at this moment, a massive fight would definitely ensue. Earth Walls were formed in corners, and students propped themselves up in the air using massive pillars of Ice.

One particular student opened a Domain of Water, drawing away Mana of the other Elements at a rapid pace while flooding the room. The Earth Wall became soggy and formed mud, while the pillars of ice cracked slightly.

Since everyone was at about the same level of strength, the Domain of Water didn't have nearly as exaggerated an effect as in the Mortal Realms, but it still rendered many students helpless for a few seconds.

William felt the Water Mana within his body running wild, eager to break free and show the opposing Water Mage who was boss, but he kept it under control. He used the Space Element to teleport on top of the Ice pillars, greeted by two female third-year students that glared at him heavily.

"Hey guys, just hanging out. Hope you don't mind." William smiled while dodging a pair of icy daggers. He transformed the Abyssal Weapon Shifter into a shield and blocked one of the attacks, then teleported to the opposite side of the pillar behind the students.

"I could push you off right now, but I won't." William warned the two as he positioned his shield against the back of the dagger-wielding student. The girl's eyes widened in surprise, but she kept her cool and nodded, repositioning the dagger to show William they had given up.

"Awesome! You mind giving us a bigger platform to stand on?" William asked, to which the girl reluctantly complied.

A few seconds passed before the situation calmed down. The brown block had decreased in size, but it had yet to fully dissipate. Judging by how much had disappeared, they guessed that at least two more steps had to be completed before the treasure was revealed.

The Domain of Water was retracted, and the pillars dismantled as the students returned to their previous stances. They eyed each other warily, but they were all students of the same Academy, and no one wanted to be responsible for another's death.

Just as William's feet touched the ground, the room shook again. Another third of the brown block fell apart, this time from the back end that could only be seen using one's perception. No Domains were opened this time, but the students eyed each other even more suspiciously.

A few eyes locked onto William including the blue-haired girl, noticing that nothing happened until he entered the room. They had been on the 14th floor for anywhere between one to eighteen hours, yet two changes occurred just moments after William appeared.

"The room is reacting to him! He must have a key or something!" someone pointed at William. Next to them, one of their teammates melded into the shadows, using Darkness Magic to rush towards William before anyone else. Experience tales at empire

As the other students caught on and realized the situation, William instantly became a target for the entire group. Multiple Domains were cast and targeted him alone, reducing the effectiveness of many of his Elements while others ran to him on foot.

He dove down the stairwell with a panic-stricken face, realizing that trouble had once again found its way to him.

How the hell did this happen? All I did was take one step!
