Chapter 585: Another Super Pet

Chapter 585: Chapter 585: Another Super Pet

Li Yao’s ambition wasn’t limited to improving his own abilities because he knew very well that pets were also indispensable.

Earlier, he could rely on his skills to crush everything in his path, like he’s doing now. However, as every player improves, even though he’s still strong, but with the narrowing gap, he couldn’t take things as easily as before.

To maintain this gap, he must utilize all the knowledge that he knew to keep strengthening himself. The top-level equipment now is nearly impossible, and he wasn’t very concerned about the so-called top equipment at present because it was merely transitional.

The only things he had to worry about were Angel’s Wing and Dark Touch, as well as pets.

Especially if he wanted to catch something like a Hydra, or even a real god-level pet, knowing some strategy was of no use.

Li Yao could only get more clues than others, but he needed a lot of luck and time to catch it.

Naturally, Li Yao’s ideal was to create an all-round multi-pet collective that covered land, sea, and air, which would allow him to decide which pets to use in battle according to the different terrains. He was not interested in ordinary pets.

Not to mention the elite silver English, even a regular boss pet wasn’t worth Li Yao’s bother. This is why he rarely captured pets.

Li Yao’s idea was to aim for quality over quantity. The moment he saw the sea monster, he had a good feeling. After evaluating the sea monster’s attributes, he was even more determined.

This pet would be an exceptional sea pet. Although he couldn’t use it usually, once the guild base was established, the pet could stay at the guild base instead of being confined to the Pet Space.

Li Yao’s idea was simple, which was to build a pet army.

Like establishing nests for Hydras and large sea monsters around the harbor, gradually forming groups under the care of beast tamers, the guild would gain an additional army.

But first, Li Yao required a pet leader worthy enough to lead, and the Hydra was of course qualified. Now, Li Yao finally witnessed another one – the massive sea monster in front of him.

Li Yao could even imagine how invincible the fleet of Starfire would become with the cooperation from the sea monsters in future naval battles.

“Friend, are you an advanced engineering master?” An anxious voice interrupted Li Yao from his pleasant imagination.

Li Yao turned to the new voice, to find a Captain, and he replied, “I am.”

“That’s great! My soldiers are all seriously injured, and we do not have any high-level Cannoneers. Can we request your help to drive the monster away?” The captain spoke with hope in his eyes: “Don’t worry, there will be satisfying rewards for you after this.”

He couldn’t help but worry; the other soldiers were on the other side of the city. Those who could rush were already here, but there were only a few other soldiers. The militia were brave, but operating Cannons created a problem.

Li Yao paused, and said, “Drive it away? Why not kill it?”

The captain gave a bitter smile, “Don’t joke around. This kind of monster only fears main artillery; even the princess could only injure it. Anyway, this monster only appears once a year, but we didn’t expect it to arrive so early this year.”

“So what you mean is, as long as I get rid of the problem, it would suffice?” Li Yao questioned back.

“As long as fewer people die, and the harbor isn’t seriously damaged, and the monster retreats, it’ll be considered your mission accomplished.” The captain immediately posted a high-grade bounty. Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Li Yao checked that upon completion, he would immediately gain the Respect reputation, get 35% experience of the current level, and was promised a 20th level awakening item.

The offer was considerably lucrative, especially the reputation, which was very tempting.

Li Yao pretended to ponder under the anxious gaze of the captain and spoke, “I have one more small request.”

“Do tell,” the captain was genuinely anxious. There weren’t many recruits here and barely a handful of people that could help. Initially, those who could help were blocked, but left quickly after seeing the monster’s attributes.

Jokes aside, this monster was a level 60, how could they handle it.

Nowadays, players have become shrewder. They won’t think that encountering a high-level monster and completing its mission would be easy.

Therefore, seeing Li Yao was about to accept, the captain couldn’t contain his excitement.

“Add a clause to the reward, stating that if I complete the task, I am allowed to use the Military Equipment Demonization Furnace for a day.” Li Yao suggested.

After hearing this, the captain immediately relaxed. He thought it would be something difficult but ended up being a minor request, he said, “Although it’s a bit inconvenient, but if you can accomplish the mission, then it would be an honor for us. I agree to this.”

“Then it’s a deal.” Li Yao saw the Captain reissue the commission and promptly sign his name.

“Follow me, this is the safest location for the main cannon.” The captain hastily led Li Yao.

“I’ve accepted this commission; you just have to listen to me.” Li Yao quickly instructed, “Don’t station so many people at the Cannons and crossbows. Assign the Stealth Thieves to load the Artillery Shells and leave. Also, have the sailors in the water dive down; the monster is too big to notice them as targets. Try to minimize casualties.”

“It’s easy to fulfill the latter request, but relocating Cannoneers, this…” The captain’s expression showed uncertainty.

“Just listen to me, the main cannon can only launch a shell every minute. According to my observation when I arrived here, there are only eight main Cannons, and the secondary Cannons are useless. Also, hurry to the city and find some Sea Bass to throw into the water. If you don’t want more people to die, listen to me.” Li Yao stated firmly.

The captain saw Li Yao’s determined expression, hesitated, and finally bit the bullet, “Alright, I’ll trust you this time.”

The captain immediately started issuing commands, before long, the infantrymen at the harbor quickly retreated. The monster had fewer targets, so it begun to destroy the harbor.

The thieves escaped right after loading the Artillery Shells, and since the main Cannons were on the turret, they could not be destroyed by the monster.

Li Yao ran to a main cannon, swiftly adjusting its angle. The whole process took less than three seconds, and then the sound of cannon fire followed.

At this, the Captain’s face darkened. Even the most experienced Cannoneers need a long time to target before firing; this wasn’t ordinary shooting. It demanded precision.

While he regretted trusting a rookie, he saw the sea monster suddenly jump out, just to be hit head-on by a huge shell.

Boom…

The enormous sea monster let out a shrill roar after being hit on the head by the shell, and it fell into the sea. The power of the main cannon was far more potent than that of ordinary cannons. The monster’s scales exploded, and blood spurted out, reddening the sea surface.

People hiding in the distance let out cries of excitement when they saw the main cannon hit the sea monster for the first time. The sea monster, which visited annually, was cunning; it paid no mind to secondary cannons but was fearful of the main cannons, so the cannonballs had never hit it.

Because it was hit by the main cannon the first time it came and almost got killed by consecutive shots…
