Chapter 40
C40 – Keep a Low Profile
Jia Ren’s face twisted into an unmistakable scowl as his gaze fixed on Jiang Hao.
“Show me what you’ve got! If someone perishes today, being a student won’t save you from consequences!”
The onlookers cast skeptical glances at Jiang Hao, doubting his abilities.
“Can he truly save someone like that?”
“Is he just causing a commotion?”
“I thought as much. Why would a student act this way? Keep clear of him. It’s not on us if something goes awry!”
Jiang Hao appeared to be rescuing someone. Yet, unbeknownst to the crowd, the system had already infused the Vital Essence into the Old Master.
“Host, the process is finished!”
Hearing this, Jiang Hao momentarily halted, staring hopefully at the Old Master.
Seizing this pause, Jia Ren scoffed.
“Playing the expert, is he? Thinks a few gestures can revive someone? Ridiculous!”
“He’s asking for trouble!”
Jia Ren’s tone was menacing.
Jiang Hao disregarded him, instead noting the reddening hue of Old Master’s complexion.
A wave of relief washed over Jiang Hao.
“What just happened to me?”
In a fleeting second, after a mild cough, Old Master began to stir.
Tian Tong, previously anxious for her grandfather, noticed his pallor replaced with a ruddy glow as he awakened.
Overwhelmed, she exclaimed in delight.
“You’re back with us!”
“I feared I’d lost you forever!”
The brief cough and Tian Tong’s elation silenced everyone. Then, a wave of amazement swept over them.
“He’s truly revived!”
“Incredible! He managed to do that?”
“He seemed at death’s door moments ago; how did he come around so swiftly?”
“What miraculous method did he employ?”
Amid the collective astonishment, Old Master stood unaided, a stark contrast to his earlier state.
The crowd was astounded.
Jia Ren’s visage portrayed sheer incredulity, and he seemed lost for words.
“This can’t be real! It’s unfathomable!”
A revelation then dawned on him.
“I must learn from you! Be my mentor!”
He searched for Jiang Hao, but in the ensuing chaos following the recovery, Jiang Hao had vanished.
“Grandpa, it was that student.”
Tears streaked Tian Tong’s face. Just as she was about to introduce Jiang Hao, her rescuer, she realized he had disappeared.
“Where could he have gone? He was right here!”
Frantically, Tian Tong scanned the surrounding crowd for Jiang Hao.
It quickly became evident to Old Master.
He had been on the brink but was pulled back by a stranger!
A newfound sense of vitality permeated him, his headache gone.
He was acutely aware of his condition. It was baffling how someone, not even the esteemed Cao Guoshou, had managed to heal him so effectively.
It reminded him: true power often prefers discretion.
Yet, he couldn’t let the life-saver’s act go unacknowledged.
Consoling his distressed granddaughter, he retrieved his phone and dialed.
“Chief Wang, Tian Teng speaking. I need a favor.”
