Chapter 348 Chasm Stalker
A look of astonishment appeared on Carmen's face once she witnessed the Stalker's claws destroying the debris, turning it into nothing but dust.
What shocked her further was the fact that the spells she launched earlier didn't deal any damage.
There was not even a bit of scratch in the Stalker's body.
"What kind of monster is this?" She exclaimed, unsure of why her spells dealt zero damage.
"It's a type of Chasm Stalker." Xu Feng released his arm from her waist and explained. "This particular Chasm Stalker is almost shaped like a snake, meaning its body is immune to magical attack. Only physical attack would work on it."
"Immune to magical attacks?" Startled, Carmen didn't expect there to be such a monster who would be immune to magical attacks.
"How are we supposed to defeat it if we didn't have Crimson Heart here?" She asked, pointing out that the only physical attacker in the team was Crimson Heart.
"Do you see those silver glowing things attached to the Chasm Stalker's body?" Xu Feng remained patient and pointed out a few silvery symbols that began to glow on the Chasm Stalker.
Following his pointer, Carmen indeed noticed them. "Are we supposed to land our spell at that to make it vulnerable to magical attack?"
"Clever girl." Xu Feng praised and turned to Crimson Heart, "Use your speed and attract its attention."
Crimson Heart merely nodded and commenced her action, not even bothering to utter a sound. She darted forward with remarkable speed, her daggers flashing as she slashed at the Chasm Stalker's body.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
The creature let out a hiss of rage, its focus now entirely on Crimson Heart, ignoring Carmen whose spell clearly failed to do any harm to them.
Amidst the commotion, Xu Feng already began casting his buff and summoned the Abyssal Phantom.
Once the Abyssal Phantom materialized, he commanded it to assist Crimson Heart in distracting the Stalker from being able to focus solely on her.
At the same time, Carmen now began taking control of her Elementalist and targeting the silvery glow symbols.
Unfortunately, she missed repeatedly due to the Stalker's speed and its awareness of Crimson's attempt.
"I can't hit it," Carmen bit her lips, feeling helpless at the speed of the Stalker. Compared to the other monsters she had fought in the past, the Chasm Stalker was at another level.
"Don't try to aim for it directly, but predict its movement." Xu Feng swiftly instructed but in a calm manner.
"Watch how I do it." He continued, his eyes narrowing as he focused on the movement of the Stalker.
Crimson Heart was truly capable, enough to repeatedly slash her daggers at the Stalker without being hit.
The Stalker attempted to fling its body to do a whiplash kind of attack, only to end up failing with her doing a backflip and avoiding the strike.
Right at that moment, Xu Feng launched his Sacred Fire, its trajectory surprisingly at a lower angle, a far cry from the actual silvery symbol of the Stalker.
However, to Carmen's amazement, the Sacred Fire actually landed on one of the silvery symbols, given the Stalker's lower body ended up in that particular area after the attack failed.
Realization dawned upon Carmen after witnessing it once.
"The Stalker's movement is fast, but its body had a delay when attacking Crimson Heart." She murmured, having understood how Xu Feng managed to hit it precisely.
It wasn't that he was amazing, but he managed to deduce the trajectory and the place where the Stalker's symbol would be in after its attack.
"My Sacred Fire isn't powerful enough to completely destroy the silvery symbol, so I'll need you to do it." Xu Feng calmly explained.
The only other offensive spell he could afford to use was Nether Blast, but the Stalker had 7 silvery symbols in its body.
Thus, it was more practical for Carmen to focus, given after a certain period of time, the silvery symbols would emerge yet again. Hence, Xu Feng really wanted to scratch his head to encounter this particular Chasm Stalker so early on.
Had it been a Chasm Stalker immune to physical attack instead, then he could have finished the fight more easily.
Time slowly passed by, and Carmen was starting to get the hang of predicting the Chasm Stalker's movement. She managed to destroy a total of 4 silvery glow symbols, but then another one would recover shortly after, resulting in her back being required to hit 4 more symbols.
"Are you seriously trying to make me waste any more mana than necessary?" Finally, Crimson Heart was annoyed by their 0 damage dealt.
She was frustrated not at Xu Feng, but at Carmen, who was clearly being the useless one.
Throughout her time in trying to destroy those silvery symbols, she had been hit multiple times by the Stalker who had gradually adapted to her speed and movement.
If it wasn't for Xu Feng's timely healing and buff, she would have already been defeated by now.
"You take a rest first then," Xu Feng softly spoke and dashed ahead. He then cast a Blinding Strike directly at the Stalker's eyes, garnering its irritation and aggro.
As the Stalker turned its focus to Xu Feng, Crimson Heart was stunned on the spot.
How was a Cleric supposed to take on the role of a tank?
Despite her confusion, Crimson Heart took this time to consume a Mana Recovery Potion. Her eyes subconsciously glanced at Xu Feng, seemingly curious as to how he was going to resist the Stalker.
To her astonishment, Xu Feng wasn't really attacking the Stalker, but rather, forcing it to change its trajectory and allowing itself to be an easy target for Carmen to hit more accurately.
"Carmen, aim at a 45-degree angle." Xu Feng suddenly called out and commanded the Abyssal Phantom to hover next to him.
As the Stalker's rage intensified, Xu Feng stepped on the Abyssal Phantom, using it as a boost to accelerate to another side, dodging the Stalker's strike.
Precisely at this moment, the Stalker had its silvery symbol exposed, and Carmen decisively launched her spell.
"Gotcha!"
