Chapter 696 Beginning of the Duel
When Damien teleported back to his room, Zach was laying down on the sofa. The bag with chocolates was now on the floor beside him. And his chest was covered with several wrappers of chocolate. And he was still munching on one of the chocolate bars.
Zach gave a smile when he saw Damien and then kept on enjoying his chocolate.
Damien raised his brows and scoffed at that young man who had taken the liberty to devour the chocolates that he bought for everyone. "Wow! Looks like someone is having a time of their life."
Zach gave a thumbs up and grinned.
Damien leave him be and lay down on the bed. He smiled to himself while recalling that fervent kiss with Ariel. He recalled how she had melted in his arms. He recalled the sweet taste of her mouth. And he recalled how hard she was blushing and how breathless she was.
"It wasn't a dream, right?" he thought to himself because it all felt like a very realistic dream to him.
Zach turned his head and noticed Damien smiling ear to ear. He was only keeping silent because Damien had said earlier that the chocolate would heal the pain in his legs if he ate them quietly.
But now, seeing Damien so lost in his world, he couldn't keep his mouth shut.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
So he asked, "Why do you look so… red? And out of breath? And why are you smiling like a fool?"
Damien instantly stopped smiling. He lightly massaged his cheeks and then said whatever came into his mind first, "I um… I came from a run."
Zach would have been convinced by that answer if Damien wasn't beaming. So he narrowed his eyes at Damien and then asked again, "You ran… okay. But why were you smiling? Did something good happen on the way?"
Damien faced the wall and denied, "Nothing happened. I was just recalling all the fun that we had in the town."
Zach didn't believe it one bit. So he blatantly asked, "You met Ariel, didn't you?"
There was no answer from Damien. Zach understood what his silence meant. And he teased Damien, "You sure like to show off your body to Ariel. You're always half-naked when you meet her."
Damien choked on his own saliva after hearing Damien and coughed.
Zach smiled because his guess was right. He took a bite of the chocolate bar.
And after a while, he said in a serious tone, "If only you hadn't disappeared for so long, I bet that you two would have been already married by now. But because of your mistake, you are now chasing after her. And what more? You also have a competitor now."
Zach got up from the sofa. The wrappers that were on his chest all fell down to the floor. He glanced at Damien's back and said, "I just hope that you two won't end up hurting my sister. She's already had enough share of pain."
Zach then placed the half-eaten bar of chocolate on the table nearby and walked out from there.
Damien turned around and glanced at the door. He furrowed his brows and mumbled, "When did he learn to talk like a man?"
His face turned a little gloomy when he thought back to what Zach had said. "Yes, it was the biggest mistake of my life…"
He then vowed to himself, "I won't ever hurt her from now on. If she decides that Kenneth is the one for her, then I will quietly walk away from her life. But until then… I will try my best to make her fall in love with me."
---
All the Princes, Princesses, and Damien had gathered outside in the fighting arena of the Drayston Castle.
Kenneth seemed to be in a foul mood and understandably so. He had been glaring at Damien since the moment they all gathered there at the arena.
Ariel wanted to say the same things to Kenneth that she said to Damien. She wanted to say how she was having conflicting feelings. And she wanted to ask Kenneth to give her some time to think properly.
However, Kenneth's eyes were on Damien and Damien only. The only reason why he hadn't already challenged Damien for the duel was that he didn't want to be too excited just to lose to that man in the end. He wanted to take his time.
"Who wants to go first?" Kenneth asked while his eyes were still fixated on Damien.
Damien rolled his eyes and looked away. He would have liked it if Kenneth wasn't that angry at him. He wanted Kenneth to cool down first before the two of them faced each other off. He didn't want that man to come at him with brute force in his fit of rage and get hurt.
The others could also feel the cold air between the two big boys. Zach guessed that it had something to do with Ariel.
So he grabbed Ramon's arms and then pulled him to the center of the arena. "Okay, cousin! Let's fight and see how long I last."
Ramon scoffed because it sounded as though Zach had already accepted his defeat.
And just as he had thought, Zach asked Ramon while stretching his arms a little, "Go easy on me, alright? I don't want to spend the rest of the tour in bed."
Ramon glanced at Ariel and said, "We have a healer among us. So, some minor injuries wouldn't be a problem."
Ariel then shouted, "Don't take this duel too seriously. I can heal you but remember that this duel is just for fun."
Ariel was trying to say that to Kenneth more than to her cousins.
However, it didn't look like Kenneth was going to change his mind. He still looked like he wanted to severely injure and defeat Damien.
Ramon and Zach stood opposite each other and took their stances.
And when they were ready, Zach asked Ramon, "Are you ready? Shall we start now?"
Ramon smirked and replied, "Yes, I am ready to beat your arse."
