Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Alavenya returned to their room, finding only Selena and Sera in the room.

"Where is Nathan?" Alavenya raised her eyebrows.

"I don't know. He went outside a while ago." Selena shrugged.

"Oh! Alright then." Alavenya nodded and grabbed the plate of cookies on the table before noticing something. "Did someone eat the cookies? I ordered them for myself earlier…"

"We don't really like snacks." Selena denied it as well.

"Well…" Alavenya thought it was weird but just continued to the matter at hand. "So, when are we going to do anything? After we're back, we've been to this inn. This is already the fourth day. All we are doing is just eating and soaking in the hot spring. Are we going to complete the mission?

"Even though it's true there's nothing we can do, shouldn't we do something to show some effort?"

"I don't know. He must have his plan. From what I can see, he is waiting for something," Selena explained. Nathan hadn't told her anything, and she couldn't see through his plan yet.

All of a sudden, Nathan opened the door while saying joyfully, "Oh. Are you guys not going to soak in the hot spring again?"

Alavenya wanted to express her frustration and boredom, but Nathan casually walked to the table and sat next to her while taking her cookie and getting a huge bite, as if he had done this a couple of times.

Alavenya blinked her eyes a few times, trying to process what was happening. "Nathan. What are you doing?"

Nathan tilted his head in confusion. "Eating cookies."

"But that's mine. I've told you that my food is my food."

Nathan looked tired and sighed while raising his head. "Ah. This…"

Alavenya stood up while shouting, "What the hell are you eating? That's mine. I'm frustrated and bored right now. That's my only joy!"

"This is also my only joy." Nathan sighed, his eyes like puppies pleading for cookies. It was as if Nathan truly loved cookies. But the words that came out of his mouth next completely erased the last bit of sympathy in her heart. "Getting on your nerves."

Alavenya's eyebrows twitched. His joy was actually getting on her nerves?

"You jerk!" All that frustration that had been built up exploded. She pounced on Nathan and grabbed his hair. "You bastard! Give me back my cookies! I'm going to choke you to death!"

"What the hell? It's just cookies. You can always order them again. Why so stingy?" Nathan was struggling underneath her. "See? This is why I need to cure your anger issue. If you don't have it, you won't even be this angry just from me eating your cookies!"

"…" Selena and Sera exchanged looks. They didn't know whether Nathan and Alavenya were serious or not in this conversation. However, they did agree that either way, they shouldn't help Nathan because he deserved it.

Still, they didn't have to stop them. After all, the ground suddenly shook once more.

"!!!" All of them stopped for a second. The violent shake caused the shelves and some decorations to fall down, leaving behind a lot of mess.

Fortunately, it only lasted for twenty seconds. They could hear people screaming outside.

Nathan said, "Let's go out and head to the mountain."

They were startled that Nathan abruptly chose to go right now. Then again, this might be a clue as to what was happening.

Hence, they immediately left. Even Alavenya forgot about her anger.

As expected, the village chief was rushing toward them.

"I will head to the mountain because there might be a clue. If possible, I will be back in an hour. I will heal everyone once I return. The panic should have died down as well, so I'm counting on you, Village Chief."

The village chief could understand why he deemed it important. In the end, he couldn't force Nathan to stay in the village. Selena and the others didn't have familiars that could heal, so staying here was useless. It would be better for them to help Nathan so that he could finish it faster.

Nathan summoned Fenrir and hopped on his back. "Let's go!"

As soon as all of them sat on top of Fenrir, the latter started running toward the peak.

"Let's go! We will go to the peak and check the mountain's belly."

"Are we finally going to investigate the mountain?" Alavenya's eyes brightened. Finally, after a few boring days, they could finally get some action.

"Nope. Even if we investigate the mountain, we won't find anything." Nathan's expression turned solemn. "However, all of you need to be careful right now. One wrong move, and you might lose your lives. Also, take care of your familiars as well. Don't summon them nonchalantly because they have a much higher chance of dying."

Alavenya and Sera's hearts skipped a beat. Selena knew that Nathan was planning to use this chance to actually confront the hands.

But to her surprise, they managed to climb to the very peak without any issues. The hands didn't appear.

Nathan was going around the peak, waiting for the hands to appear. Yet none of them came for him.

Selena couldn't help but ask, "Nathan. Are they not coming?"

"They?" Alavenya squinted her eyes. "Who are they?"

"The hands." Sera figured it out at the last moment.

"No. They will come. There's no bigger opportunity than this. If they don't seize it, I believe they're a fool." Nathan's expression turned solemn. He turned to Fenrir. "Do you sense anything?"

"Not—!" Fenrir abruptly fell silent and turned his head to the west. "Hmm?"

All of them noticed his reaction. Nathan immediately summoned Jinwu and Anubis just in case. As expected, Anubis was able to hear it as well.

"Footsteps… two? No, three people are coming. They're very fast! They don't look friendly." Anubis warned them.
