The Academy's Strongest Undercover Professor

Chapter 158 - You're Cute When You're Mad

Everyone who was still inside the room turned their eyes to me. Some of them remembered me from when I had entered tied up like a prisoner and could only frown when they saw that I was standing next to the queen now as if I was her equal.

"Why is this human even speaking up? He's not even part of our kingdom. I don't care what he says, and I won't listen to a single word coming from him," an elf muttered.

However, Amelia quickly reacted as I could see her clenching her jaw and fists very tightly.

"Anyone who disrespects Caedrel will also be killed on sight. He's more important to me than any of you," Amelia declared as she blushed slightly while looking in my direction.

It had been a few times already that she had declared just how much she valued my presence; earlier, she said that I would become their king; now, she was saying to those nobles that I was more important in her eyes than any of them. Honestly… I wasn't sure what to say. I could only smile and thank her mentally at the moment.

It meant a lot to me that someone would openly declare my worth to everyone around me. Usually, I would just play it off as if it was nothing, but it was different when Amelia was saying it… the resolved look on her face gave it a lot more meaning than anyone else ever said.

The more time I spent with Amelia, the more I realized that I liked her… however, I still couldn't get into a relationship with her or with anyone actually. I had too many secrets hidden from the world, and I knew that I would have to lie to them if I were to get into a relationship. Lying to my loved ones wasn't something that I liked doing, and I never would.

For the time being, I would just have to keep my distance slightly from them… however, I needed to make sure that it didn't seem like I would be pushing them away from me. That would make things even more complicated for me to handle.

Nevertheless, once Amelia said those things to everyone in the throne room, their mouth were shut almost instantly. They also knew that she was dead serious about what she had just said.

"Now, everyone will answer the question I'm about to utter one by one. I need to verify something. Answer by saying either yes or no. I don't want any justifications of any kind."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Everyone quietly nodded, scared to offend me, it seemed. They had stopped being arrogant, which was a nice change of pace.

"Are you a demon?" I uttered my question and pointed it out to the royal adviser. "You answer to it and make an example for everyone to follow."

"Yes," the royal adviser answered as he could barely stay straight on his knees now.

It came out as the truth, confirming that he was indeed a demon and that my strategy would work on anyone else within this room.

Then, I pointed toward another noble and asked the same question. "Are you a demon?"

"Of course not! I would never."

When I looked at him and used my skill, the answer came out as a lie.

However, I haven't reacted yet. I moved onto another traitor and asked the same thing.

He also lied. He was also a demon. I had a feeling that everyone who had betrayed the demons was actually a demon. But I couldn't be sure just yet as I asked yet another person the same question. Again, that person lied; it seemed they thought that I was foolishly hoping for them to tell the truth. However, they couldn't be more wrong. I could discern their lies and the truth. Every time they answered one of my questions, they were doomed.

Everyone who was a demon would die. However, having so many different people who had undergone the process of demonization was certainly something that I was interested in and that I needed to know a lot more about without a doubt in my mind.

However, I had a feeling that no one here would be able to tell me anything about it. Perdere wouldn't be so careless as to do something like this since they knew that those people were at risk of getting discovered. They most likely have security plans regarding those things. Anyway, I had nothing to lose.

I continued to ask everyone the same question, and it turned out that everyone had already become a demon apart from those currently tied up. Oh, and that guy had told Amelia everything he knew about the situation. They were the only ones who were corrupted. However, I still didn't say anything as I went through every one.

Most of them were just looking in my direction, confused, as they didn't understand the purpose of those questions, and the most courageous ones raised their voices once I was done. "What was the purpose of this? Of course, none of us are demons; that would be impossible! We are ice elves. Just look at us!"

A stifled laugh escaped my mouth as I got closer to Amelia and muttered in her ear what I had just discovered. After all, she should be the one taking revenge on them in whatever way she seemed fit. She was the one who would be the most angry about the current situation. Those nobles were people she trusted last week, and everything had changed so drastically now that she had discovered all the atrocities they had committed.

"I trust you, Caedrel. Do what you seem best? I don't care if they die if you torture them. But I only ask you to give me the royal adviser. I want to have a quick conversation with him about what he did to my kingdom."

I smirked. "You're cute when you're angry. Did you know that?"

Amelia instantly blushed as she looked away from my intense gaze and whispered, "Idiot."
