Chapter 269 Still Alive?
I sent out two powerful bursts of flames, zooming at two of my opponents. One backstepped and tilted, avoiding the blow, the other lashed out and countered with an energy blast of their own. Flames struck flames and a white light burst from the collision, encompassing my vision and causing me to shield my eyes.
In that moment, with <Immersion>, I was able to sense a clone approaching me from the side, hurriedly coming at me with its many legs.
Once it noticed I had sensed it, it thrust up its trident commanding the earth, and a massive spike of earth jutted from beneath me, intending to impale me. Fortunately, I was swift enough to go out of harm's way, turning before the massive piece of rock went through my entrails.
The flash of light shrunk and was no more. I got a view of my surroundings, and once again, I was surrounded. Just how had I survived so far? The answer to that question eludes even me. I just had the devil's luck.
<Visionary> was always active, and thanks to it, I could see five seconds ahead, which has been incredibly crucial to my survival, especially in my face-off against these behemoths of destruction.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Two ghostwave mutants swept forward in unison, each executing the same steps as if they were in a dance, and they both thrust up their trident, calling upon the earth. The earth answered, and she threw massive hands to squash me. She was swift and I got hit, pain searing through me, my muscles and bones resisting the crushing force.
Fire burst from my body and I blasted my way from the rocks, creating large holes in them. I got out and began flying upwards. I wanted to create a distance between me and my opponents, and it would be harder for them to get to me if I was much further up while they were fixed to the ground, or so I thought. I caught sight of the solar flare within my periphery, and I turned a little to it.
'That's still there?' I had totally forgotten about it, and its presence was entirely responsible for me being able to reach this place. Your next chapter is on empire
'If I somehow turn it off, I could escape the fight, couldn't I?' That should be the case. Without the radiance of the solar flare artifact, the city wouldn't and shouldn't be visible any longer, causing Suphas as well to be largely invisible too, it would be away from my level of awareness.
The thought lingered in my mind as I levitated up and up, watching the clones' eyes on me as I moved farther from them.
'Not yet, I have some advantage while I'm still up here', they couldn't get up here, not even if they jump, and even if they could, they'll get pulled down in the soonest. I used absolute appraisal on them once more, and confirmed that they had no flight abilities.
My body rose with fervour and flames, the flames in me were pent up, and there were no clearer targets than the ghostwave mutants below.
I huff, my chest reddened and enlarged with the flames present, and then I sought to puff when the Suphas clones sprouted wings and zoomed at me.
I was a little surprised by this, I was going to lose this little advantage I had just realized. The creature's wings were massive and were of the same make-up of its body, ethereal and ghost white. They were shaped like the wings of dragonflies and they beat fast as they approached.
There was no time for me any longer, I had to release the flames, and release I did. I suppose seeing those monsters with their ugly faces and inhuman eyes triggered a fearful flight response at my end, and because of that, the flames I sent down were much larger and powerful than I expected and were larger than the ones I had sent previously.
I shot flames from my hands, mouth, chest, torso and even my legs. Flames practically burst out of every part of my being and they zoomed down, encapsulating a great radius.
I bet the clones didn't expect that, for if they had, they would have moved out of harm's way. They didn't, taking my overwhelming flames head on.
My flames fell like a heavy waterfall and the city vibrated once it struck the bottom surface. The attack took all of my energy, causing me to feel dizzy, and I lost control of my flight, falling.
The flames conjured up a massive smoke cloud, that it was almost like I was falling into the pits of hell then. My form was undone due to the absence of energy to sustain it, my dragon eyes as well, and I fell like an angel, or perhaps a devil clipped of its wings.
I almost lost consciousness there, my vision had begun to blur and was creeping towards the dark, but somehow, and somewhere, I found the strength, mentally commanding one of my valuable and expensive elixirs in my right hand from my personal pocket dimension.
I unclogged it, its contents spilling, and I poured all of its contents into my mouth. I lost close to half of the greenish content when I opened it, but the half that remained did close to as much work as it did if it was full.
It was an energy and health elixir: All-life elixir that was made from the essence of a Trent, and I was healed and i got rejuvenated almost immediately. I was close to striking the scorched ground and bursting to pieces, but I was able to save myself.
I hovered, laying horizontally, and just about four feet off the ground, and out of instinct, Haven came over me.
I smirked, this was an incredibly close call, one of my many close calls now. I then slowly levitated, my energy shield still over me, and I activated immersion and dragon eyes. I wanted to witness the state of my opponents.
"Are they still alive?"
What do you think?
