Chapter 60 - There Is No Turning Back
"What are you doing here?" A cold voice called out to Elder Lin from behind her. There was neither hostility nor friendliness in that voice but, in this place, which was an unknown territory for her, it could mean life threatening if she did not take precaution at each of her steps.
Elder Lin looked sideways from where she was but since she was covered by thick mist and fog from all side, she could not see anything or anyone.
'I can't see her. I understand.' Elder Lin thought. "But it's weird that I did not even sense her presence.' Elder Lin thought and immediately got more alert. Whoever it was, it was definitely not a foe but she definitely wasn't her friend either.
Elder Lin took out a talisman from her spiral ring, held it between her fingers and without a moment of delay leaped up in the air.
"Who is there?" She flew three steps back as she turned around at the source of sound. But, to her dismay, there was no one.
Her visibility was also reduced to almost nil due to immensely growing fog and mist which was getting denser with each passing moment.
"Are you by chance asking me?" The same voice asked in a sarcastic tone as it moved from one place to the next continuously with in the cover of the fog.
"Well, who else is there?" Elder Lin was not the one to be intimidated by what she was facing an invisible opponent. She knew it was going to be a risky job to enter someone else's sea of consciousness without proper preparation.
Elder Lin focused all of her qi into her eyes and looked at the fog around her, trying to locate the exact position and identity of the strange presence there but to no avail.
"Oh yah, interesting." The owner of the voice sounded amused by her answer.
"I am flattered that you think this kindly of me." Elder Lin too was amused with the reaction of that person or whoever it was there. And while judging from the timber of the voice, the owner of the voice seemed to be a woman!!
Just as she finished speaking, a silhouette presented itself from inside the fog. The image grew clearer and clearer until Elder Lin could exactly figure out the exact shape of the body.
"A human?" Elder Lin remarked as she saw the humanoid shadow but it disappeared as soon as she spoke.
The figure had quite a tall body and judging from the curves she saw, she seemed to be bigger in all aspect as well.
Slim waist, flat stomach and wide hips with long and slender legs. Those were the beauty trademarks of the owner of the voice.
"See, I showed myself. Aren't I trustworthy?" The voice gave a soft chuckle. This time she sounded more frank than before.
"So, why don't you show yourself to me as well?" As if trying to stand on equal grounds with Elder Lin, the woman from the fog once again spoke in a flirty tone.
Elder Lin was speechless at what she heard right now.
"….", You have been seeing me all this time. She wanted to yell out but decided to keep her cool and composure.
"You can see me, don't you? Are you playing with me?" Elder Lin asked, her hand holding the talisman securely to attack at the first sign of danger or hostility form the person in her opposition at the moment.
"Oops, I was trying to just make a conversation though." The woman who was still walking inside the fog let out a shrill laughter when she heard Elder Lin's complaints.
"….." Elder Lin wondered if she met with a weirdo inside this sea of consciousness. But didn't it belong to Le Fang Ling? Then why in the holy world, a flirty lady was living there as if it was her domain. It was quite a worrisome matter.
"Don't worry about anything." As if understanding what she was thinking, the voice spoke once again reassuringly.
"But aren't you tired? You have been in the air for the past 3 minutes. Oof.. you must be exhausting a lot of your qi at this rate." She sounded worried about Elder Lin for a moment but when she ended her sentence with a laugh, all those went down the drain.
"Let's have a chat. I know what you are here for." The woman who was speaking from the fog got serious all of sudden.
"So, come down. I won't hurt you even if I wanted to." She spoke in a reassuring tone. Her voice had the kind and gentle feeling to it.
"If you say so." Elder Lin sighed as she shrugged her shoulder.
" We are both here for a business. So, lets' just go to it." Elder Lin snapped her fingers and the talisman she catching disappeared from her hand and back in to the spatial ring.
Elder Lin landed on the space below her, which at the moment appeared to be a ground of some sort.
"Good decision." The woman gave a joyful laughter and just from the energy she was showing as she laughed, Elder Lin was sure that this person or whatever creature that was inside the fog was an extremly extroverted person.
"So, I will start from my question." Elder Lin had to ask her anything but before she had a chance to speak further, her attention was grabbed by the change in the appearance of the surrounding..
The mist and fog that was around her started to get thinner and thinner until there was sparsely any left.
'The fog is disappearing.' Elder Lin stretched out her hand and tried to feel the fog but they simply passed through her.
Within a few moments, the whole space was free of the mist.
"I am right here. You aren't going to look at me?" A mature and rich voice emerged from behind Elder Lin.
"Are you sure about me seeing you?" Elder Lin knew that the person was standing right behind her.
"Of course I am okay with it." The woman gave a low chuckle when she heard Elder Lin.
"But let me warn you." She added before she gave the final answer to Elder Lin.
"Once you see me, there is no going back for both you and me."
