Chapter 76 - But It Was Me!
"I think everyone knows why we are gathered here today."
A cold and emotionless voice echoed throughout the grand hall of the Eternal Blossom Sect where all the students were gathered in a cluster.
The disciples, both old and new alike, looked towards the source of sound but saw no one. The Elder who was speaking was still behind the curtains it seemed.
Among these vast crowd of youths, was a young lady who was standing with her arms crossed in front of her, her feet tapping on the floor in rhythmic motion.
'This voice..' Le fang Ling stopped the movement of her feet and thought about the familiarity of the voice but was not so sure about the owner as almost all the elder she met in this sect spoke like as if they had problem with speaking normally.
They had to raise the intensity and emphasis on their voice to sound like some big shot.
She looked around at the gathered mass of disciples that were separated in to inner court and outer court disciples.
From the way they were gathered, there was a high chance that something big was about to happen or someone big was about to come.
Since, nothing was bigger than the tournament , she was 985 sure, her latter option was correct.
And by the looks of it, whoever was coming was a big shot.
Le fang ling looked around to see if anyone had figured out but by the looks of confusion in the face of most of the students present, she figured they were still in the dark about this.
Her eyes travelled form the dumbstruck faces of her peers to the emotionless faces of the seniors whose darkened expression made her think they were here not for information but just to suffer.
In the crowd, she noticed her lovely senior sister who also seemed to be having a hard time maintaining a normal face.
'She can't wait to ditch this event and run away right?' Le fang Ling chuckled lightly seeing her expression.
An Cheng could feel that someone was looking at her. She sharply turned around and found Le fang Ling looking at her with eyes full of twinkling stars.
'Ahh, she saw me.' Le Fang ling felt a little embarrassed when she was caught peeping at her. So, she raised her hands slightly and waved at her with an embarrassed smile on her face.
An Cheng: "….."
She is everywhere.
An Cheng could not help but smile when she saw the idiot junior sister waving at her joyfully.
'Pay attention.' She mouthed to Le Fang ling and pointed at the central elevated platform with her eyes.
Nod Nod!
Le Fang ling gave a slight nod and looked where she was asked to look by An Cheng.
"Does anyone know why we are here?" The same voice, echoed in the crowded general hall of the sect.
A hand raised from among the sea of the green robes, grabbing attention from everyone, including Le fang ling's.
"Umm, master, we don't know," one of the new male disciples who was wearing the robe of the outer-court disciples raised his hand and spoke to the air.
It was the same guy who had raised his hand before.
Everyone's eyes shone with bright light as they looked at the boy with eyes full of worship and respect.
'Yes, dear brother. Say that to him.'
The others looked at him as if he was their sole savior. Everyone was confused but he was the only one who had the audacity, ahemm, I mean the courage to ask the question.
In their eyes, he was the super hero without cape and underwear.
"Plus, sir, we are new and we have no idea who are you." He added with a little bit of hesitation but his voice was less shaky than before. He seemed to have grown a little bit if confident after the episode from before.
All the new disciples nodded their head in unison. They had only been here for a couple of weeks so it was hard for them to comprehend and understand who was who and what was happening juts based on a vague piece of information.
"Oh, really?" The voice sounded smug and full of cynical mockery but it still sounded as cold as ever.
'Is he also a master here?' Le Fang ling wondered. She too wanted to go away as soon as possible since she had left Nagina alone in the quarter.
As the notice was short, she did not think it was necessary to drag Nagina around with her, especially when she was looking like such a cute…
Le fang Ling's nose felt warm as she thought about the cutie that was waiting for her back home.
'Home huh?' She pinched her nose to let the wetness inside settle down. She did not want to have a bleeding nose in front if the entire sect.
That was going to be an embarrassing memory for her.
Meanwhile, the older disciples who were quite familiar with the person behind the voice could not help but roll their eyes in irritation.
They simply waited for the information to come to them so that they could go back to their quarters or library or to the beast arena and train individually.
They were already busy with the tournament coming in the hand.
Suddenly, the elevated platform in the middle, which had been empty all this time, burst in to flames. They were not ordinary flames but blue flames that looked as if it could burn anything to ashes as soon as it came in contact with something.
"O.O"
Le Fang ling looked at the sudden change in the atmosphere with great interest.
The blue flames covered the entire platform.
The sparks from the flame flew everywhere, making the disciples who were near to the platform move back reflexively.
But one of the spark was able to fall on the skin of one of the new disciple which made him yelp out in pain.
"Fire! I caught fire!" he shook his hand and tried to make it fall form his hand when he realized that the fire actually felt cold and not hot?!
"What?" He looked at his hand and saw that instead of the spark of the flames, there was a snowflake that was melting fast.
'A fire of ice?' He looked up at the platform, as surprised as Pikachu.
Le fang ling noticed the properties of the qi he was using and realized it was actually the variant type spiritual root based qi.
An Ice affinity based spiritual roots.
'Oh, so there is someone with a variant spiritual root as well huh?' She smirked as she looked at the Fu yao Yao girl who tried to act big shot just because her spiritual root was also a variant type; a lighting based spiritual roots.
She shrugged her shoulder and turned to look at the elevated stage to see the tricks of the person behind the sound.
From among the blue fire, a figure burst out and spun around twice before it stopped. As soon as the person there stopped, the fires too stopped dancing and died down.
"You all thought it was some Elder master from the sect, but!" the figure covered his face with his palm so as to add momentum to his entry.
"But, it was I, An Lin!" The figured raised his head and pointed at himself with full of pride.
"The one and only!" He smiled and sent a flying wink towards the group of junior sisters who were clustered in one place in the crowd.
"Kyaa…. It's the senior brother An Lin." The crowd immediately burst in to loud cheers and claps. One by one, the elder female students who knew An Lin started to add comments one by one and were soon supported by the other new junior sisters.
"He is so handsome!"
"He is so dreamy!"
"Looks at his hair, it's so silky."
"He is going to be the father of my child!" A sharp yell echoed in the hall, overshadowing the other comments by a higher margin.
"….."
"…."
"….."
The whole hall fell silent at the last statement. The one who had said this statement also seemed to have fallen silent because no one dared to even let out a word after this.
Le fang Ling looked at the embarrassing silence in the hall and simply shook her head. She finally understood why the inner court disciples were looking as if they wanted to bury themselves.
She looked at An Cheng who was trying to stop herself from beating the shit out of her twin brother for making a show out of everything.
To make it worse, they even had the same face. Some curious new students were even staring to whisper things regarding their appearance.
"Cough," Le fang Ling cleared her throat loudly so as to make the attention that was on An Cheng to move to her.
After all, in this sect there was no one who was as popular as her.
A small cough from her was more than enough to let the people starts commenting things about her.
And she was correct about that.
The people removed their prickling gazes that was on An Cheng and looked at Le Fang ling, the famous and rumored troublemaker.
'See, they are way too predictable.' Le Fang ling did not feel the need to pay attention to them anymore.
"Senior brother, can you tell us why we are gathered here?' She gave a polite bow and asked him.
An Lin looked at Le Fang Ling, the impudent junior sister with whom he still had to make things straight.
"Right," An Lin clapped his hand accompanied with a weird smile on his face.
"Since the annual tournament is right at our feet, a very distinguished guest is coming over here." He started speaking but his eyes were focused on only Le fang Ling.
It gave Le fang Ling a weird feeling.
"Le Zuan, the lord of the southern province and the beloved father of our sweet junior sister; Le Fang ling, is going to grace us with his presence today."
