The Princess And The Lord

Chapter 1281 Changing Plan

1281  Changing Plan

"That's how I ended up calling Owen...I don't have anyone I can trust...not anymore" Lydia hung her head bitterly. Owen looked at Lydia sympathetically as he squeezed her shoulder gently.

"How are you sure that person isn't Marissa?" Lory asked.

"Oh, that..." she quickly wiped away the tears that were about to fall and calmed herself down. "When we were little, we had a safe code to signal each other that things were safe" A melancholic smile bloomed on her face as she recalled the past "We always used the silly code 'Apple and corn' as secret words to say that place was safe or we can trust that person, or we are okay..." a gloom overcome her, soon tears involuntarily roll on her cheeks though she quickly wiped it.

" Apple and corn is our favorite food, it's the only thing we hope to find whenever we go to a new camp or shelter, Apple and corn...so we will check the situation then meet each other and one of asked would ask 'would we found Apple and corn there' then we should answer 'There should be plenty of it' or 'There plenty of it here' but the one who talks with me seem not to understand no, that woman certainly had no idea she thought I really asked about food!" Lydia's voice cracks from suppressing anger and grief.

Lory leaned her back on the chair and sighed heavily, she had no words to comfort Lydia she also didn't want to give false hope because the truth might be worse than they expected.

It wasn't just Lory who thought like that, Garrof was also worried about the same thing, he was afraid that Marissa might not be alive anymore, but still, he did not dare to speak about it in front of Lydia.

Garrof's cell phone suddenly rang, which immediately broke the heavy atmosphere in the room. Garrof swiftly answers his phone "Yes?" Garrof's breath hitched, and suddenly his whole expression became stiff, "Where are you now?"

Their attention was automatically drawn to Garrof, they were curious why Garrof's voice was on-edged. "Hm...okay, I'' asked Her Highness first...what about you? uh-huh, okay, stay safe!" Garrof hung up after that he turned to Lory.

"Lloyd couldn't come, he said someone was following him," Garrof said.

"Someone watching us" Lory was stunned.

"...I'm not sure, someone might figure it out we stole the car" Garrof shrugged.

"If that's so, the cops should come any minute, but why following him, why don't he or she confront Lloyd instead?" Lory felt something was fishy.

"Could it be the enemy already found us?" Garrof scrunched up his face.

"Maybe, they might be waiting for us to come after seeing Lloyd come back alone" guessed Lory.

Anxiety spread in the room they had no idea the trouble would follow them even after they had been rescued, Lydia rubbed her hands together nervously while Dan and Owen exchanged guilty looks, they realized it was them who ruined Garrof, and the other plans, but of course, Lory and Garrof didn't blame them at all, besides, Garrof and Lory didn't think their plan had completely fallen apart, at most they had to change their original plan. fortunately, improvisation is Lory's forte.

"Where is he now?" Lory straightened her back as she began to cook a new plan.

"He's In our room right now, packing our things and doing some erasing spells for the room to avoid any recollection spells but we're worried about your stuff in your room. We don't know if we have time to collect your things and do an erasing spell" Garrof looked at her with concern because he knew there was a lot of valuable information in Lory's laptop and tablet, therefore it would be troublesome if it fell into the enemy's hands.

Lory wiggled her index finger, "No-no-no, don't worry about that, I've made extra security in my room so if anyone other than me enters my room then my room will explode automatically."

"Did you use an anti-theft spell?" Owen's eyes lit up with excitement.

Lory shook her head "No, that's easily detected by gifted people if he or she has some experience besides it doesn't cover up the remains of your tracks inside the room. Therefore the safest way is to use the old-fashioned way" Lory grinned mischievously.

"Old way?" Owen narrowed his eyes in confusion.

"Will… will someone get hurt?" Lydia felt uneasy at the thought of innocent people being hurt as a result.

Lory smiled and then explained in a simple way to understand, "The method is simple, use wire in front of the door then attach sufficient amounts of explosives at important points inside the room then add reinforcement spells to the four walls including the door except for the windows, for the dramatic effect and then the room will contain the explosion so it will not affect the other room on the contrary everything inside that room will be demolished"

Lydia smiled in relief knowing no one wouldn't get hurt.

Lory made it sound simple but Garrof knew that it required meticulous preparation to determine how much explosives were needed and how strong the strengthening spells used to withstand the explosions would be.

If the slightest error occurs, either the explosion is too small, causing it to fail to blow up the entire room, or the explosion is too big, causing the walls unable to withstand the explosion which leads to destroying the nearby room, but if the wall is too strong someone might able to used recollections spell to retract memory residue that stores inside the wall, so the wall surface needs to be sufficiently damaged as well to avoid anyone retracts information from the wall.

Garrof looked at Lory with a probing look, "Where did you learn all this?"

Lory raised her eyebrows "Did you forget who raised me? I was raised by two generations of Archknights"

"Well, that explains everything" Garrof remembered then nodded in understanding.

"Okay then, we also need to prepare!" Lory stood up abruptly from her chair "Garroof call your contact to speed up our departure, I mean right now!" Lory gave firm orders.

"Will this not alert our enemies later?" Garrof was slightly hesitant.

"They already are" Lory throws a knowing smirk.

"Oh, You're right!" Garrof clicks his tongue and then proceeds to make a call.

Lory then looked at her watch "It's almost time for everyone to go to work, this is a good time to leave" she muttered then turned to Owen and the others "Unfortunately you all can't rest yet, can you last a few more hours?"

Their expression became tense but unlike before they didn't feel hopeless or afraid instead, they felt so excited that they could feel their adrenaline pumping.

"No problem!" Dan firmly said.

"I am ready!" Owen chimed in.

"Me – me too!" Lydia joins in.

Lory was happy that they were still energetic and optimistic because considering what they would face later in the future they were going to need it.

"Princess, my friend was ready but because our plans changed at last notice, our rendezvous point became quite far from here," said Garrof.

"It's okay, tell Lloyd our new rendezvous point" Lory replied while taking her jacket, she didn't bring anything other than her cellphone which is the important one because currently all the data from her tablet and laptop had been transferred to her cellphone as they were talking.

However, she still blows up her entire room because she worries the enemy will be able to recover damaged data from her laptop or tablet therefore destroying it is the safest option.

The four of them immediately checked out of the hotel, not bringing anything so as not to stand out. They couldn't steal another car because it was morning and the streets were starting to get busy, but Lory wanted to take advantage of the crowd by using the monorail to reach their destination.

Lory put on the hoodie and big sunglasses to cover her face, the others did the same, Lydia bought a facemask and a beanie to cover her face and blonde hair, while Owen bought a cap to make sure his face wasn't visible on the CCTV.

Luckily, because it was rush hour and the monorail station was filled with people heading to the office, school, and whatnot, naturally it wasn't difficult for them to disappear within the crowd. Lory pulled Lydia's hand because she was afraid they would separate, the little girl looked so distressed that Lory couldn't leave her alone.

Lydia was startled she subconsciously lifted her head glancing at Lory, when she saw Lory's composed demeanor the wild beating heart that hit her chest slowly subsided, it was a strange feeling of security and reassurance that she had never felt before even when she joined the S.A.I.N.T. organization.

All of a sudden, the station's big screen displayed the breaking news, the news anchor reported about an explosion that occurred at the five-star hotel where the celebrity was staying.

Screens showed ambulances, police, and reporters swarming the hotel meanwhile, people ran out of the hotel in robes and pajamas, some only covered with towels, the scene was extremely chaotic.

The reporter then said that they had no reports of any casualties or injuries due to the explosion, at this time but judging from the small area affected by the explosion, it was unlikely that anyone was injured nevertheless they were still waiting for further investigation reports. A small smile appeared on Lory's lips, even though she was confident with her abilities, it was still good to receive the confirmation. Lydia smiled broadly, as Lory said no one would be hurt by the explosion, Lydia looked at Lory with sparkling eyes, more than when she looked at Saintess.

Garrof saw the news and smiled faintly, no wonder why the King's men always praised Princess Lorient. he is not only a kind-hearted leader but he is also cunning and intelligent. With Princess Lorient and King Lucas returning to leadership, he could only imagine how bright Harland's future would be. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Ha, it might be a good idea to change his nationality to Harland.
