Chapter 241: Days Before The Festival [2]
***
Amelia and Amon silently stared at each other for a few moments before the former strode forward, ignoring the girls behind her.
Reaching him, her gloved hand shot forward, grabbing his hand.
And without a word or any reply from him, she took his hand and started going into another direction with him behind her.
The people in their path stared silently at the two but Amelia gave them no glance, much less a reply.
The two let out no reply or anything as Amon silently followed her until they reached his office.
Opening her door, she led him inside before closing the door and locking it.
She quietly pushed him down on the sofa without any reply, and nor did the boy resisted, silently looking at her.
But it was then that he opened her mouth.
"I can-"
She put a finger to his lips.
"Silent."
Amon's mouth closed and she removed her finger.
Giving him a silent stare, she headed to her table before coming back with a white roll in her eyes.
She kneeled down, grabbing his crystallized fist.
Amon's eyes widened as she broke the crystal, examining his hand.
And in the next second, she tore off a certain part of the roll and started bandaging his hand.
Amon was left completely speechless at her action.
He almost expected her to ask him what happened first. Especially since she, of his few friends, knew the best that he wasn't the type to do such things.
In fact, out of all of his friends, Amon had to be the person who was the most straight-laced in matters of sexuality. Notoriously so.
Rather, she remained completely silent about it and continued bandaging his hand.
Even her expression, rather than showing confusion and distrust, had concern and worry on it.
Whether it was her strong trust in him or that his safety took priority first, Amon didn't know. But, he appreciated the silent understanding from her, as he was relieved from the responsibility of explaining it to her.
RIP!
Amelia tore off the last bandage with a snap and tightly wrapped it over his knuckles before twisting her fingers in a pattern.
As she did, a tiny intricate crimson pin formed out of thin air, made of blood.
CLIP!
With precision and carefulness, she safely pinned it to the end of the bandage, successfully bandaging his hand.
"There." She finally spoke, her lips spreading into a beautiful thin smile.
Looking at the white bandage wrapped on his hand, a smile spread on Amon's lips as well.
It was bandaged with very thoughtful and precise methods, securing the wound while still not causing him discomfort.
Naturally, words of gratitude flowed from his lips.
"Thanks alot, Amelia. I owe you one for this."
Amelia waved her hands in dismissal with a light shake of her head.
"Don't mention it, if you really owe me, treat me to an outing next time around." She gave
him a playful wink, surprising him.
But a happy smile spread on his lips again.
"Sure, why not?"
She gave him a cute nod, standing up.
Amon looked at her with surprise as she headed over to the table, looking at her back.
Even though he appreciated her asking nothing about it, he was still confused.
But he didn't even need to ask as Amelia beat him to it.
"You want to ask me why I didn't ask you about it right?"
Amon was left speechless once again, not expecting her to catch on to him that quick.
He saw Amelia let out a sigh from the front.
Since he was seeing her from the back, he couldn't see her full expression but from the slight glimpse of her mouth, Amon saw her smile disappear.
She didn't turn as she answered him.
"It's okay Amon, I can understand how you feel. Even though it's been a month, the incident still haunts your mind right? Especially with how there's been no news of my father."
Amon's eyes widened with shock, as his gaze trembled.
'How did she-'
Before he could continue his thoughts though, Amelia continued, taking his silence as an affirmation.
"Don't worry, out of all the people here in this academy, I can relate with you the most. It's the same for me. On some nights where I lay awake without my father or mother, all alone, I also wonder if I'm going insane." She let out a scoff.
"I know that the ones affected by things the most are the ones who usually hide it from others, laughing and excusing their way through. I'm the same, with how I hid it from you,
Kath and Alice.
"And you are the same. You hid it from your friends, running straight to the bathroom after class to not make them worry." Her voice trailed off as a sorrowful chuckle escaped her lips. For some reason, as her words continued, Amon found himself resonating with her deeply. As if, even though he was the one going through it, she was the same.
And her next words proved it.
She turned, facing him with a sad smile that spoke depths about what she was going through
right now.
"You will be wondering why I'm telling you all this. It's simple, because I can tell what you are going through and I know it's not easy for you." She said as Amon's eyes turned wide
seeing her face.
Even he wasn't able to notice it because of how well she was hiding it but...
Now that she removed her element and everything, he was clearly able to see the marks of tiredness and lack of sleep on her face.
Just like him.
It made Amon realize, just like a month ago that even if everyone had recovered, Amelia was
still suffering just like him.
And why wouldn't she? Her only two family members had disappeared after all, leaving her
alone.
And now she was faced with the responsibility of this festival and everything.
A pang of pain shot through Amon's heart again for not realizing what she was going through even when he saw her many times this month.
It had always been her looking out for his mental health and reckless actions when Katherine
wasn't around.
Amon gritted his teeth silently.
Coming before him as Amon looked down, Amelia ruffled his hair in an affectionate way.
"I'll see you later Amon, take care of yourself and don't do anything reckless now. I'll meet you tomorrow at the party." Her voice recovered back to her caring playful tone. But as she was leaving, a sudden idea came to Amon's mind as he heard about the party.
This would be the best way to release both of their worries and for him to look out after
Amelia as well.
Just as she turned to leave, Amon grabbed her hand.
Amelia froze in her steps as she turned back to look, confused, only to find Amon standing up
and looking in her eyes.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
Amelia was confused for a second as she was left speechless but eventually composed herself
and answered.
"I need to check on some stall owners and other festival matters before going to the City Centre to get some dresses for the festival and tomorrow's party." She answered him.
A smile spread upon Amon's lips as he heard her, his hand still not leaving hers.
"You are attending the party tomorrow?" He asked.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Amelia nodded, her lips pressing into a thin smile as well.
"Yeah, I'll be there for the announcement of the ranks of everyone along with Katherine and
other club presidents so I need to look my best." She answered.
Amon nodded, his smile spreading even more.
"Great, let's go to the City Centre for some shopping then, you can choose your dresses there
and help me as well. My choice of clothes sucks without my sister." He said.
Amelia's mouth opened to retort.
"But I need to check on other stall owners and matters-"
Amon interrupted her, shaking her hand in a leave-it way.
"Just leave it, all of that can wait later. The Centre's already gonna be packed with students
right now so we should do this first." He said with a resolute expression, his black eyes boring
into her gold ones.
A moment of silence passed between the two before a smile spread upon Amelia's lips as she
nodded.
"Alright, let me freshen up and get my things while you wait here then we can leave together." She straightened herself.
Amon nodded with a smile, letting go of her hand finally.
Giving him a parting smile, she turned to leave again for the door before she stopped.
"Oh." She said, a playful tone creeping into her voice as she gripped the handle. Amon turned to face her as she looked back with a playful smile on her face as she put an
inquisitive finger on her lips in a joking manner.
"Since we are going to the Centre together, should I consider this a date?"
Amon was startled by her question as his heart skipped a beat.
He knew she probably said it in a playful joking manner but...
Since she was trying to fluster him, it was only fair to play it back on her.
His smile spread further playfully as he shrugged.
"Yeah, you can call it a date."
Amelia's form suddenly froze as her eyes widened, her gaze trembling.
Her cheeks flushed beet red as she quickly turned her face, averting her eyes.
He saw her hands grip the handle tightly as she mumbled softly.
"You are too good at this..."
Amon's mouth burst into a laugh but he quickly controlled himself, taking it even further.
"I was just speaking the truth though." He said and instantly, he saw her cheeks get even
redder as she quickly opened the door, not turning to look at him. "Stoppp it!" She rushed outside as Amon kept laughing in the room like a madman, an action that he was doing for the first time since the incident.
