Chapter 49 Past (3)
Jake did well in increasing his strength by twenty points. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to block those attacks. Jake had planned to watch Justin's movements for a while and then attack when he got used to his speed, but he could tell that the asshole was holding back…
"I suppose it can't be helped…" Jake said.
When the next thrust came flying toward his head, Jake repelled it by using Bash. Justin frowned when his weapon began to tremble. Jake used that chance and dashed to pierce the helmet with his katana, but Justin swung his shield to smash Jake's head, and he was forced to retreat.
Running around would give me the opening that I wanted. Still, l would end up exposing myself to the whole enemy army. He could only attack directly… Jake looked toward the enemy, and he truly couldn't find a single opening aside from the space in the helmet that gave him the chance to see things around.
Justin began to thrust his spear several times in a few seconds and forced Jake to assume a total defensive stance. He couldn't even dodge all the attacks, he had to block some, and each attack made him lose some health.
Jake stopped blocking the attacks and then used Dash to increase his speed. The thrust began to pass close to him, but they never hit it. Suddenly, he charged toward Justin, and then when he began to move his shield, Jake stopped and jumped backward. Justin's attack was too big to stop, and he ended up hitting the air and exposing his left side. Jake moved forward once again, but then he saw the spear moving toward his head. Jake stopped his advance and then saw the spear passing a few centimeters away from his nose.
"This guy…" Jake frowned.
Justin had a big mouth, but he sure had some skills to back them. He had no idea how he developed those skills. Still, he certainly wasn't playing dungeon masters online for the fun of it… he was doing it seriously.
"What's wrong, kiddo?" Justin asked.
Jake sighed. He thought a fight against a player would be more fun than that. While Justin was stronger and skilled, Jake had way more fun against the bosses.
Justin resumed his continuous attacks, and Jake jumped over the weapon and ran over it to attack his head. Once again, the enemy swung his shield, but before it could hit anything, Jake swung his sword and attacked Justin's hand. His grip over the weapon weakened, but before Jake could try again, Justin pulled back his arm and weapon.
His shield finally hit Jake, but he decreased the damage by using bash with his scabbard and katana. While the shield was trembling and the spear was in a rest position, Jake fell to the ground, but not before firing a Mana Blade toward Justin's head. The attack only caused some damage because the helmet trembled and forced Justin's head to move backward a little bit. When Justin recovered, he had an unpleasant surprise. He saw Jake's katana piercing the front of his helmet with relative ease, and the sword pierced his left eye as well.
"Arggh…" Justin muttered in pain. "You son of a bitch!"
While Justin was cursing, Jake prepared to hit the other eye, but then Justin moved his shield to protect his face. That had been a wrong move since it made him lose sight of Jake for a moment. Justin suddenly heard the sound of his allies' footsteps, but when he noticed that something was off, it was too late. He saw the very moment Jake swung his sword and then hit his wrist with Bash and then Mana Blade. Justin assumed his defense would prevent any damage, but then he felt a sharp pain in his arm. His hand fell on the ground, and then the wound began to make blood rain around them.
"Arrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhh." Justin screamed in agony.
The pain had been nothing like the others Justin had felt before… it almost felt real. To the point where he felt his body getting cold, and blood gushed from the wound. The healer of his party decreased the pain, but then Jake prepared another strike aiming at Justin's remaining eye. Once again, Justin used his shield to protect his face, and then he tried to retreat, but that had been another mistake. This time, Jake aimed at the elbow, but the hardness there was a bit higher. Thus, he had to use Bash and two Mana Blades. Justin's left arm fell alongside his shield.
"AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGHHHHH!" Justin screamed yet again.
Jake grabbed the shield and tossed away the army, but he still got hit by two arrows on his left shoulder. Jake grunted in pain as he watched the enemies approaching, but then Lana healed him, and the pain disappeared.
