Chapter 20: Tag Team Duel Continues!
Chapter 20: Tag Team Duel Continues!
Okay, this time, I will definitely post another chapter this week! The fight was longer than I thought, and I needed to improve the last part a bit!
Besides that, was anyone else grinding the Master Duel Tournament right now? I had a 40- minute battle against an Ishizu/Naturia deck, which was an interesting experience...
Short Recap:
Yuna's Field: Dragon Knight of Creation (Defense), Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand(Attack)
Keith: Set monster, Magic Metal Force on Zoa, One set card.
Joey: Tiger Axe(Defense), Set monster, One set card
Bonz: Metal Zoa and One set Card
[Yuna POV]
I rubbed my forehead and sighed. Even after a couple of minutes of calming myself, I still couldn't get over that stupid effect...
*Sigh*
Who could forget that in Yugioh, they take card descriptions quite literally? Even a normal monster might do something unbelievable if it said something random. I glanced at Bonz while he drew his card.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Bonz: "I'm going straight into the attack phase! Metal Zoa, go destroy Tiger Axe!"
Metal Zoa's eyes flashed and pounced at the weak Tiger Axe. Joey gritted his teeth and hurriedly exposed his trap card: "I use Chasm of Spikes!"
Before the monster's steel claws reached Tiger Axe, a large cavity expanded between them. Tiger Axe swung his axe and slammed Metal Zoa into the hole. There was a shrill mechanical cry when the robot was impaled by the dozen spikes hidden inside the hole.
Metal Zoa explodes into hundreds of pieces, and Joey points at Bonz with a smile: "With Chasm of Spikes, I can destroy one monster attacking monster, then my opponent will lose life points equal to a quarter of that monster's attack!"
Bonz's Metal Zoa has a whopping three thousand attack points, which means that Bonz will have to take seven hundred fifty worth of burn damage!
[Bonz: 1000 LP -> 250 LP]
"Tsk... I will set a monster face down and end my turn." Bonz said with a bitter expression.
WOO HOO!
Great job, Joey!
Now I will finish this!
"Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand! Attack Bonz's set monster!" I yelled before stammering: ".... Use your claws this time!"
Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand roared and plummeted from the air. However, Keith suddenly interrupted me and shouted: "I won't let you! I will activate Negate Attack!"
A barrier seemed to form between Bonz's monster and mine. Felgrand roared with rage and slashed at the barrier, but it won't break no matter what...
"With Negate Attack, I can end your monster's attack and skip the battle phase entirely." Keith explained: "You need to try harder than that!"
I pouted and turned my head, just let me play the game for once! It felt like Joey was the only one actually doing something...
When its Keith's turn, he smiled: "Finally, the moment has come!"
"I activate my set trap, Time Machine!" Keith announced, and a large black machine appeared on the field: "With this, I can special summon a monster from the graveyard that was destroyed by battle! The one I choose is Mighty Guard!" The familiar cyborg returned to the field, and the soldier saluted gratefully at Keith.
[Mighty Guard: Attack: 500, Defense: 500]
"With this, I will tribute my two monsters on the field to summon my strongest monster! Now show yourself, Barrel Dragon!"
Mighty Guard and Bonz's set monster merged and transformed into an enormous creature. Its entire body was built out of metal and pieces of machinery as the monster stood on two legs. On both sides were two giant revolvers. There was also a revolver attached to its head. The dragon stomped its feet, and the revolved made a sharp noise when the hammers of the gun notched backward.
[Barrel Dragon: Attack: 2600, Defense: 2200]
"Now, I use my spell card, Seven Completed! Which allows me to grant Barrel Dragon seven hundred attacks!"
[Barrel Dragon: Attack: 2600 -> 3300, Defence: 2200]
"Then I will activate Barrel Dragon's ability, and I can flip a coin three times and attack my opponent's monsters to how many times it landed on heads (Anime Effect)!"
A golden coin appeared at the center of the field. The coin hurled itself into the air, and we tensely watched the results.
Heads...
Tails...
Finally, when the coin landed on the floor, I cursed and glared at the head sculpted on the flat side of the coin: "Ke Ke Ke, I landed on heads twice; that means I can target two monsters for battle!! So, I choose Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand and Tiger Axe!"
Barrel Dragon roared and aimed its gun at our monsters.
BOOOOM!!!
BOOOOOOM!!!
The revolvers fired with a thunderous roar; the bullets struck Tiger Axe and Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand, and the monsters succumbed to their wounds.
[Joey: 1500 LP -> 700 LP]
[Yuna: 2000 LP -> 1900 LP]
Keith cackled like a maniac while covering his face with his hand: "Now, with the obstacle gone, your chances of winning are over!"
He ended his turn with a sneer; Joey clicked his teeth and glanced at me: "What should we do?"
I frowned at the complicated situation we found ourselves in. Bonz's life points were still lower than ours, but Joey was just as fragile. It would be difficult to target Bonz directly under Keith's assault, and the zombie boy's monster will always be on the defensive, and right now, we have no choice but to protect ourselves as well.
Voicing out my thoughts, Joey nodded and set a monster face down before ending his turn. When it was Bonz's time to play, he copied us and summoned another monster in the defensive position, building himself a wall of creatures.
I scowled; right now, in this type of stalling, there wasn't any good way to stop them other than using cards to make the opponent's monsters attack forcibly. Well, I still have two more Battle Mania left in my deck, but by looking at the history of my draws in this game, I'm not
counting on it.
Thankfully, Bonz was playing cautiously, so his turn was usually uneventful. I drew my card and sighed with relief, finally something I could use!
"I activate Graceful Charity!" I announced. It allowed me to draw three cards and discard two cards from my hand!"
I grabbed three consecutive cards and discarded two spare fodders I didn't need. My smile widened. Yes! More spell and trap cards, just what I needed!
"I will activate Swords of Revealing Light! All face-down monsters will now be flipped face- up, and no monster can attack until the end phase of my opponent's third turn! Which means you guys couldn't attack before Keith's second turn!"
Hundreds of white swords descended from the sky and surrounded all of Keith's and Bonz's monsters. The ones Bonz set face down were revealed. It was a large treasure chest with a mediocre design. The chest opened, and a ghoulish red monster emerged from within.
[Yaranzo: Attack: 1300, Defense: 1500]
It was a normal monster with a decent defense, so fortunately, it was not dangerous. I stared
at my hand and turned to Joey, who was nervously biting his nails. He must have a hand as terrible as mine by gauging his reaction.
I nodded to myself; I still had Life Points to spare, so I needed to support him the best I could.
"I will play my spell card, Exchange! This allows me to exchange a card with a player on the
field."
This was a card I purchased from the system store this morning. Even if it's a super rare card, it's one I definitely needed for my plans in the future.
My eyes darted around and observed everyone's nervous reaction. Bonz seemed creeped out
by my stare, while Keith was smiling brazenly without a care of the world. Just you wait, and I
will wipe that annoying smirk off your face!
I gave everyone one final glance and decided: "The one I chose is Joey!" Joey's eyes widened with disbelief upon hearing his name being called. The arena's machinery
came to life, and our two podiums were brought close to each other: "Take this, I whispered."
And showed him a card.
He nodded and added it to his hand while I took a random monster in return. When we
returned to our original position, I summoned Joey's monster in defense mode and set one
card on the field before ending my turn.
Right now, I hope he can put that card to good use...
I hope you can enjoy
