Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 563 Tense waters ahead

The purple explosion persisted, its brilliance gradually dissipating but leaving a lingering enchantment in its wake. The once-ordinary cityscape had been transformed into an ethereal dreamscape for a brief moment, a memory that would forever be etched in the minds of all who bore witness to the extraordinary event.

That confirmed that the magic people were working with those that once had been their enemies even more, all to crush humans and Rain. It didn't make any sense… Humans caused them a lot of trouble, so they decided to team up with the allies of the same humans to kill the humans who helped them during the war…

"If it weren't for the few allies that I got thanks to that, I think that perhaps I should have left Joanis to wipe them all out… even if it might take longer to get rid of Joanis, it would be less annoying than this," Rain thought while raising his eyebrow.

Rain crossed the barrier again to retreat and he was able to sense the mana of his wives and a bunch of more people behind him… they worked fast considering that earth magic wasn't their forte.

In any case, Rain quickly picked his warriors in an ice chamber and then approached the others. With his wives, the magic squad of the Raging Phoenix, Rain found a bunch of withered individuals having a hard time standing. It seemed that they hadn't eaten well in months.

"Are they fine?" Rain asked.

"Artisia checked them, they are fine," Terra said.

"Where is she?" Rain asked.

"She is underground, ready to destroy the tunnels, but we need to check some villages where the prisoners said that we can find people who want to leave the country," Terra explained.

Seara was helping the prisoners with some sort of magic that made them recover body nutrients with water magic. That was a neat trick… anyway, it seemed that the night was far from over, but since the warriors only suffered minor scratches, things would be fine if they had to fight again…

When morning came, Rain and the others were returning home with quite the group… around one thousand people were inside the ice chamber that now looked like a mini airplane. That was the only thing Rain was able to do in order to gain speed… things were a bit cramped thanks to that.

Although they had to fight a few times, in those villages, the number of enemies there was small and they didn't have magic crystals either, so things ended well… still, Rain didn't expect that five hundred people would come with them… Artisia will have a lot of work ahead of her. She didn't show up in order to avoid people thinking that they would be brainwashed.

"Where are we going to leave everyone?" Seara asked. "The capital probably isn't a good place, even though you will have to report this to Her Majesty."

"The eastern seems like the best option," Rain rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "We have to keep increasing our food production and preserve it in case of invasions. Rebuilding everything all the time is a pain, but that will be easy with their help. Besides, we can't use them for combat. At least not anytime soon."

Most of those that didn't approve of the war were children and elderly… Those who had too much time on their hands and had some level of power wanted to exterminate the humans as fast as possible no ,matter the cost.

In the end, they went to that part of the country first since Rain's kids were also his parents and grandparents. I was one would expect, the people were a bit worried when they appeared in a place filled with humans, but the magic squad would be with them to make them get used to it.

"Dana, Kei, and Gila… I have an important mission to you all, I want you to build some buildings for them," Rain said while trying to sound serious. "They are our friends now, so don't slack off."

"... You are only doing menial chores for us," Kei said while rolling her eyes.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Rain's face froze… his little sister had a point, and Rain didn't know how to react. Rain finally could understand how people felt about his bluntness now.

Although Kei complained, she didn't slack off when the others began to work on the buildings… maybe Rain should make something for them to apologize. Something new and filled with sugar would do for them… Rain was starting to think that his sisters were the easiest girls in the world to get along with, one just had to brine them with food.

"I guess I will have to use my secret weapon… the legendary lemon pie," Rain thought. "But first, I have to talk with Branden and Esmeralda."

Although Rain informed them beforehand, they still looked surprised when they heard that five hundred refugees suddenly entered their territory overnight… They will have to try to spread those news little by little in order to make the population get used to them.

"The enemies will use this event to make their troops more enraged and say that we kidnapped them," Branden said while holding his chin. "This will be troublesome."

"Who cares?" Rain asked. "At least we secured five hundred people that won't be brainwashed and will be sure to keep their bloodline going in the worst-case scenario."

The worst-case scenario will be their total annihilation… Rain, and his friends didn't want to go that far for no reason, but the magic and the beast people were so stupid that their path was easy to imagine them reaching that look… the people that they were working with won't hesitate to dispose of them once they become useless for their goals, after all.

"... That isn't the only problem, Rain," Esmeralda said. "You didn't inform Seadrei that you would take Seara with you, right? Maybe he didn't take well, at least I think so..."
