Primordial Soul's Rebirth

CHAPTER 397 - Back to the Phoenix.

"I believe I gave you enough time to think about my offer."

Alex's voice was heard in an enclosed room with nothing more than one gate and many bookshelves filled with various types of books.

There was a bright red flame burning fiercely, contained in a glass container placed at the center of the room.

The flame in that container flicked the moment Alex's voice was heard, and the next second, another voice was heard.

"Is this flame responsible for the time both of us had to stay separated and that I couldn't come to you?"

It was the voice of a girl, one who seemed to have a fiery nature, and the anger and irritation in her voice were clear for everyone to perceive.

It was Alice, and as soon as her voice was heard, two figures became visible to the flame. The flame was, of course, none other than the original Phoenix, Emberlyn Ashborn. Experience tales at empire

The figures who appeared right in front of Emberlyn were the two people she wouldn't forget easily.

One was Alice, a human who was very compatible with her phoenix powers, the one who was summoned to this world for the sole purpose of becoming her vassal.

The other was...

"She is the one responsible for the wonderful abilities you have as well, you know."

Alex Matthew, the demon lord, someone who barged into her life like a storm; at first she thought that he was just unreasonable, but when she found out about his relationship with Alice, she realized that he had the right to even kill them if he wanted to, yet he didn't do it.

He instead gave her a choice.

A choice that would let her get the revenge she wants while also binding her by an unbreakable binding.

She had been thinking really hard about it since then. She thought about the pros and cons of it, but no matter how hard she tried to think about it, she only got one answer—the same answer that she wanted to give Alex the day this choice was given to her.

"I know, but it was not like you couldn't give me something like that. So, overall, she did more bad than good."

Alice, on the other hand, was still angry at Emberlyn.

The lady didn't do anything to her; not even her hair was plucked out. It was a good thing, of course, precisely the reason for Emberlyn still being alive, but that didn't mean she was forgiven by Alice.

Alice wasn't able to prevent Luna from getting closer to Alex because of Emberlyn, and because of this same being, she now had to share Alex's love with one more person.

"It's fine, right? We are now back together, right? And the distance between us didn't decrease my love for you by a bit; it only increased, so be worry-free."

Alex, who heard Alice's words, sighed lightly as he patted her head, pulling her closer.

He was curious when he heard that Alice wanted to tag along when he said he was coming to meet Emberlyn, but who would've thought that she just wanted to let out her frustration on the poor soul who probably didn't even know what she was being blamed for?

All Emberlyn did was what her descendants asked for, and she was desperate, yet she tried her best to not let harm come Alice's way. She must probably be confused as to why she was even getting scolded by Alice.

Who was Luna? Would she even know that?

Alex shook his head as he saw Alice melting in his arms. He did this just to calm her down, as he knew just what the things were that calmed his girls down.

His eyes then turned toward Emberlyn, and by whatever coincidence it was, he decided to have his incubus eyes activated, only to catch sight of the emotion he didn't think he would see right now.

'Annoyance?'

She was annoyed, and when Alex saw what Emberlyn was looking at, his eyes brightened in realization.

Yes, he could see her eyes within the flames, which was almost impossible to perceive, but who was Alex?

As for why she was annoyed.

[Anyone would be annoyed when you two start being lovey-dovey in front of them.]

Sophia, who knew exactly what was happening, muttered, causing Alex to smile inwardly.

'Oh? Is Sophia annoyed as well?'

He questioned with a tease, and Sophia, who heard his question, although a bit late, did reply to him.

[...no. I'm used to seeing these things.]

Alex, hearing Sophia's tone, as if she were trying to be dismissive, just shook his head, leaving her at that, turning toward the one he came here for.

"Now, Emberlyn Ashborn, do you accept my offer or not?"

He finally completed the words he had left without completing, causing Emberlyn's focus to turn toward Alex as well.

The air suddenly turned tense, and even Alice, who seemed to be melting in Alex's arms, opened her eyes, a sharp glint passing through them as she stared at the flame that seemed to be burning at a stable heat.

'Hm.'

Alex, who saw this, nodded inwardly.

Unlike the last time, when she was anxious the whole time, her flame flickering with uncertainty and fear, this time, other than the initial surprise, she was pretty much calm throughout the period, much like a being that used to stand at the top of the world should.

Emberlyn, on the other hand, was pretty sure of her decision; as said before, no matter how hard she tried to think, she could only come up with a single answer.

"Yes."

She spoke, her voice calm, but a subtle hint of tension could be perceived by those who knew how to read people.

She had always wanted to just accept Alex's offer from the moment he had put forth the offer. But at that time, when she felt like the best thing she could do was accept Alex's offer, she felt like she was being manipulated.

The sense of relief, calm, and relaxation she felt when Alex was close to her made her cautious about the fact that maybe Alex was manipulating her to think that way, and that was why she had decided to ask for some time to think about it, but now, after thinking about it with no one around her, she had decided to go along with Alex's wish.

Her not accepting Alex's offer meant that she was becoming his enemy—Alex had made it clear the moment he spoke to her last time.

Becoming Alex's enemy...

Yeah, no. She didn't want to see that happening.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Her empire was already very weak right now; she didn't want to see it getting destroyed because of her decision.

"Good choice. Let us sign the contract then—"

Alex, who heard her words, couldn't help but smile widely. Once this was done, he would be done with the first protagonist of the Phoenixia Empire.

There would only be one left, but Alex didn't really care about that one. The second protagonist of the Phoenixia Empire wasn't really a problem for him, or so was what Sophia had told him.

*BAAM*

But before he could even complete his words, the door of this packed room was pushed open with a baam, and three streaks of bright red light shot toward Alex at a very fast speed.

*Woosh* X3

This didn't really affect Alex or Alice much, as both of them stood relaxed in their spot, but Emberlyn was not the same as them.

"STOP!!!"
