Chapter 1027: Welp, It Was Worth A Try
Baradiel looked at her surroundings with a cold gaze as she walked the familiar path of the academy.
Those who were familiar with Nicole suddenly found the young lady very distant, barely talking to anyone.
Even the young lady's friends were surprised about this sudden change in character. But no matter what attempt they made in order to bring the old Nicole back, nothing worked.
Baradiel wasn't fond of talking to people in the first place, so even if she did speak, she would only respond with a word or two.
After that, she would leave, signaling to everyone that she didn't wish to continue the conversation anymore.
Even so, her new attitude, as well as presence, made her title as the "Cold Beauty" very fitting.
She played the part well, like a true Ice Princess who looked down coldly upon the world and those who lived in it.
Right now, she was headed toward Dud Manor because Ethan wanted to check Nicole's condition.
She didn't find anything wrong with this request, so she agreed to meet with him today.
Baradiel found this thing troublesome, but since she understood that Nicole was very special and important to the young man, she decided to just let him have some peace of mind.
After entering Dud Manor, she immediately saw Ethan in the Common Room, waiting for her. "I'm here, Mr. Ghost," Baradiel said in a teasing tone, which made Ethan sigh.
The Primordial Progenitor had been using this nickname when she referred to him.
The thing that frustrated Ethan the most was that Baradiel didn't care about the time and place when he referred to him in this manner.
This caused many students, as well as his Manor Mates, to wonder why Nicole was calling him Mr. Ghost.
Some rumors even spread that Nicole planned to kill Ethan and truly make him a ghost! "Let's go," Ethan replied, not wanting to stay in the Common Room, where the countless stares of his Manor Mates were piercing his back.
Baradiel followed Ethan to his room, and as soon as the door was locked behind her, she decided to do something which made the young man's body stiffen.
"What are you doing?" Ethan asked with wide eyes the moment Baradiel started to take off her clothes.
"You're going to do a check-up, right?" Baradiel frowned. "Isn't this how humans do it?"
Ethan blinked once then twice as Baradiel turned around, butt-naked, looking at Ethan with a frown.
"You're weird," Baradiel said. "Are we doing the check-up or not?"
The Primordial Progenitor was present whenever Ethan warmed Nicole up under the blankets without her clothes on.
So, she thought that the young man would have no problems seeing her naked. After all, the vessel she was possessing belonged to Nicole, and there was nothing he hadn't seen.
Ethan pinched the bridge of his nose and wanted to tell Baradiel to put her clothes back on. But before he could say anything, she said something that made him unable to proceed. "Are you going to do your check-up or not?" Baradiel asked. "If not, I'm going to leave." "Fine," Ethan conceded. 'It's not like I haven't seen her naked anyway.'
Of course, he didn't voice out his thoughts out loud and made a gesture for Baradiel to lay on the bed.
After that, Ethan covered her with a blanket so that the important parts wouldn't be exposed. A moment later, he laid down on the bed and hugged her ice-cold body.
The cold was like a sharp blade that pierced his skin, but he had already gotten used to it. So aside from letting his body adapt for a few seconds, the cold really didn't bother him.
Ethan then closed his eyes and activated his Dream Walker ability to enter Nicole's consciousness.
He once again found himself in that pitch-black place, where Nicole was sleeping on an Altar, waiting for her prince to arrive.
Ethan approached the sleeping beauty and gave her a light shake.
However, nothing happened, making him wonder if Nicole was in deep hibernation.
Not wanting to give up right away, he decided to do an experiment.
The young man lowered his head and kissed her soft lips, which were waiting for his return. Ethan then pulled back to see if it had any effect on the sleeping beauty in front of him.
As if a magic spell had been cast, Nicole's eyelashes fluttered before her eyes slowly opened. "... You could have kissed me longer, you know?" Nicole said in a teasing tone. "Mr. Ghost, I missed you."
"I missed you too," Ethan replied as he sat on the altar, and held her hand. "How are you feeling?"
"Better," Nicole replied. "Way better than before. How long have I been sleeping?"
"Nearly six weeks," Ethan replied. "I was worried, so I decided to ask Baradiel to allow me to check on you."
"I see." Nicole nodded in understanding. "But I will need a little more time to fully recover. After that, you're going to give me my Origin Magic Crystal back, right?"
Ethan hesitated for a bit before nodding his head.
Both of them understood the process of how Nicole would regain her Origin Magic.
He didn't plan to pretend that he didn't know the complications of such actions on his part.
In order to let his mind think about other things, he carefully observed Nicole's face and
complexion.
Her face was no longer pale, and it now had some color in it. Her skin was also smooth and even had a radiant glow.
The most important was that she was no longer cold to the touch and had a normal person's warmth, making Ethan feel relieved.
Nicole, on the other hand, had a sweet smile on her face, as if being woken up with a kiss put her in a good mood.
After confirming that Ethan was actually the Mr. Ghost, whom she liked the most, a dam inside her heart broke apart, allowing the pent-up feelings to wash over her like a refreshing
breeze.
Seeing her smile, Ethan couldn't help but smile as well.
Till now, he was still confused about how his soul jumped back in time so that he could train
Nicole and make her the powerful Witch that she currently was.
"How long will it take for you to have a complete recovery?" Ethan asked.
"I need a little more time, so maybe a few weeks?"
There was actually another way to speed up her recovery, and that was to ask Ethan to give her
more of his life force.
However, Nicole didn't want to do that.
The young man had already given her a significant amount of his lifespan, so asking for more would make her feel bad.
"So, what happened while I was sleeping?" Nicole asked. "Also, why am I naked?"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Although she was sleeping deep inside her consciousness, her body was still her body. The moment she had woken up, she sensed that she had no clothes on, and Ethan was hugging her. When she found out that Ethan was wearing clothes, she felt relieved and disappointed at the
same time.
"I told Baradiel that I want to do a check-up, so I could see your current direction," Ethan explained. "But the moment she entered my room, she started to strip. It happened so fast,
and I wasn't able to stop it."
Nicole gave Ethan a look of understanding.
Baradiel thought differently, and feeling embarrassed was not part of her dictionary.
Ethan then told Nicole things that happened during the time that she was sleeping.
The young lady listened, sometimes frowning, sometimes smiling, and sometimes looking at Ethan with a dumbfounded look on her face.
When he was done, the young lady remained silent before making a comment.
"I had a suspicion that Lilian and Cedric were part of the Royal Family," Nicole said. "I just
didn't expect my hunch to be correct. Looks like you'll be marrying a Princess. Nice job,
Ethan."
"Lily is technically a Princess too," Ethan commented. "Also, Illumina is also a Mermaid
Princess."
"... Are you bragging right now?" Nicole arched an eyebrow. "Are you telling me that you're some kind of Princess Killer or something? Wait, don't tell me... I'm a princess too?"
"You're not."
"Welp, it was worth a try."
A giggle then escaped Nicole's lips, while Ethan couldn't help but smile.
The two of them were reverting to the time when they spoke openly when Nicole was still in
the Asta Residence, and not the aloof Nicole, who was once the Strongest Pillar of the First
Years.
"Mr. Ghost, come," Nicole said, spreading her arms.
Ethan, who understood what she wanted, lowered his body so that Nicole could hug him and
pull him closer to her.
A moment later, their lips touched, and soon, the sound of kissing spread in that pitch-black world, making the young lady's heart, which was now starting to know the meaning of love, feel safe, and warm.
